Key Quotes

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson

On battling adversity within the game…
“I talk to them all of the time. If you play with emotions, you’re going to have some big, severe ups and downs. If you just play with energy and focus, and you surrender to the process, you’ll understand that our game is really hard. You’re not going to get a hit every at bat, even though you’re trying to, but it’s what you learn from that and those guys did that today.”

On the atmosphere today…
“I want to thank our crowd, they made it tough. The energy was flowing and we had a lot of fans here. It affects players, and I think it got to them today.”

Dan Jackson | So. | RF
On how it feels to be a key contributor in an SEC win…
“I mean, yeah, this is why I wanted to come here, to be a part of stuff like this. It feels awesome to get that win, especially being down by two. Guys stacking at-bats, putting me in a position where I could get that done. They made it easy on me, it was just awesome that I could be the one to finish it out.”

JT Quinn | Jr. | RHP
On the mood of the team right now…
“It’s special, man. If we’re going to win, it’s how much we want to win the game. It’s a really cool team, it’s really cool to have the depth of guys and the quality of guys to go out and it’s really special.”

KEY QUOTES:
Georgia Head Coach Jamie Hunt
On today’s match. . .
“It was an incredible atmosphere to have all these lettermen come back and honor our 1985 National Championship team. It was really special. I don’t know what the total crowd was, but it had to be a couple thousand. A huge thanks to our fans for coming out and providing a great atmosphere. The doubles point was extremely close and didn’t go our way, but a common thread of this team is our ability to respond after doubles and play great singles. To get all six singles wins with five of them in straight sets was a really good performance to see.”

Senior Ryan Colby
On today’s match. . .
“It was amazing having the alumni back. I think that really helped us with energy. Doubles were a rocky start, but I think we then had six first sets in singles and were able to get on and off pretty quick.”

UP NEXT:
Georgia will head to Gainesville, Fla. for a showdown against the Gators, with match play set to begin at 5:00 p.m., ET on Thursday, April 3, at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
