Key Quotes

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson

On the game

“Brian (Curley) was really good and set the tone. He had a couple of shaky innings but when you have that kind of stuff, and you’re attacking the strike zone, you’re going to get outs. He didn’t walk anyone, he did hit a few batters. We got the offense going later in the game after a couple of home runs. We had the three runs in the seventh and broke it open late. We’ll come out Saturday and it’s 0-0 on the scoreboard. We have to respect the game and show up and play tomorrow.”

Key Quotes:
Head Coach Drake Bernstein:
“It was a great start. I think that we took care of the things that we needed to take care of. First serves in doubles, first returns in doubles. We did a very good job with that. It’s been the focus of the week, playing from being ahead. Tomorrow is obviously a great team in Georgia Tech. It’s going to be a battle. We’ve played them already once this year. We know what the rivalry is like, and we’re going to keep paying attention to what we do. We’ll go again tomorrow in front of a great Athens crowd.”

Senior Guillermina Grant:
“It was really fun to play again in Athens. I really missed it. It’s been like a month, so it was awesome getting to play in front of our crowd. I think everyone was really excited to play, and I think we did a really good job.”
