This week, Georgia softball and Jack Turner Stadium will host the 2025 Southeastern Conference Softball Tournament. The 12-seeded Bulldogs will play the 13-seed Kentucky Wildcats in the tournament’s first game on Tuesday at 1 p.m., airing live on the SEC Network.

A Look at What’s Ahead
The winner of game one between Georgia and Kentucky will advance to play fifth-seeded Arkansas on Wednesday, May 7. That game will begin 35 minutes after the conclusion of the 11 a.m. game that day.
Let’s Recap
Georgia dropped its final SEC series of the season at Missouri over the weekend. The Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the opener on Thursday, 4-2. Georgia rebounded to win a 3-2 game on Friday to even the series. A solo home run in the second inning was enough to lift Missouri to the series win in game three, 1-0.

The Go, Go, Go’s
The trio of Jaydyn Goodwin, Sarah Gordon, and Dallis Goodnight has combined to lead the Georgia offense down the stretch of the season. The three are tops on the team in batting average, runs scored, hits, total bases, total plate appearances, and at-bats. Gordon and Goodnight lead the team with 16 multi-hit games, while Gordon and Goodwin have registered the most multi-RBI games and have combined for 19 of Georgia’s 47 home runs (47%).
Dawg Walk
Graduate Lyndi Rae Davis’ 0.85 walks per game this season ranks 14th in the country and fifth in the SEC. Her 21 walks in SEC play is the fourth highest in the conference. She’s drawn multiple walks in a game 11 times, including three times in a game. In her career, her 121 walks is tied for sixth all-time at UGA. She drew 42 walks last season.
“Work While You Wait” – Tony Baldwin
Juniors Tyler Ellison and Marisa Miller have each had breakout seasons in 2025. Ellison had a combined 34 at-bats her first two years and has earned a starting role this season. Miller had just two hits in 22 at-bats a season ago in five starts. The pair is hitting .317 and .308, respectively, this season and have been mainstays in Georgia’s lineup, combining for 70 hits and 46 RBI. Ellison ranks third on the team with eight home runs.
Battle Tested in SEC Play
In Georgia’s 29-year softball history, the Bulldogs have never opened SEC play against three straight top-10 opponents until this season. The only time a Georgia team came close was in 2017 when UGA faced four top 25 opponents to start SEC play (No. 17, 12, 5, 3).
Packing The Jack
Georgia fans set a season attendance record at Jack Turner Stadium with 52,704 fans packing The Jack in 2025. The LSU series saw three top-10 crowds, including breaking the attendance record in game three (2,478). The series drew 7,098 fans, setting a new Jack Turner Stadium series attendance record. Georgia concludes the regular season home schedule 20-10.
Dawgs Ranked Number 1 in Baseball Polls

Fresh off a 4-0 week, the University of Georgia baseball team ascended to the top spot in both the Baseball America and Perfect Game top 25 polls Monday.
The Bulldogs (39-11, 15-12 SEC) will be featured on “SEC Inside,” airing on the SEC Network this Monday at 7 p.m. The show takes viewers behind the scenes, is shot in cinematic style and delivers unique vantage points and sound. The SEC Inside crew was in Athens earlier this season to document Georgia’s preparation and play during its series win over then No. 14 Oklahoma at Foley Field.
Under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson, Georgia has won six of its eight SEC series with two more remaining in the regular season. The Bulldogs have the nation’s top RPI according to the NCAA, lead the country with 119 home runs and are seventh in fielding at .982. This past week, the pitching staff posted an SEC-best 1.75 Earned Run Average, allowing a total of seven earned runs in four games.
The Bulldogs travel to No. 25 Alabama (36-11, 13-11 SEC) for a three-game set starting Friday. Georgia closes out league play here May 15-17 with former No. 1 Texas A&M, who captured a series from No. 2 LSU this past weekend. Please note the final game of the series with the Aggies (Sat., May 17th) is sold out. It will be a noon start and televised by the SEC Network. Limited tickets remain for the Thursday and Friday games against the Aggies.
Before this week, the last time the Bulldogs were ranked number one came during the 2009 season. Georgia was ranked as high as No. 2 in 2019 and 2020 and 2025.
The Bulldogs are 82-28 with Johnson at the helm, which is the best two-year mark in school history. Georgia is No. 6 in the latest D1Baseball.com and USA Today Sports Baseball Coaches polls while the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) will be released late Monday.
