Opening Tip Storylines
Georgia welcomes the Alabama State Hornets Monday evening for a 5 p.m. tip inside Stegeman Coliseum. The season opener is part of a doubleheader with the men’s basketball team, which hosts Bellarmine at 7:30 p.m.

» The Lady Bulldogs raise the curtain on their 53rd season with a 1,086-508 (.681) overall record. That win total ranks second in the SEC (behind Tennessee) and 19th nationally among all DI women’s basketball programs.

» Georgia owns a 43-9 mark in season-opening games and has won 19-straight lid-lifters dating back to the 2005-06 season (L, 84-72 to No. 6 Baylor). The Lady Bulldogs are 30-2 in season-opening home contests.

» This marks the fourth season under the direction of head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson. Coach ABE ranks seventh among active SEC head coaches with 419 career wins in 21 seasons.

» Georgia owns a 4-0 all-time record against Alabama State. The two teams last met in the second game of the 2022-23 season — Coach ABE’s first year with the program. The Lady Bulldogs won that game 77-47 and went on to record 22 wins en route to the NCAA tournament.

» This year’s Georgia roster is made up of four returners, including 2025 SEC All-Freshman Team selections Trinity Turner and Mia Woolfolk. The Lady Bulldogs also added five players as part of a transfer portal class ranked as high as No. 5 nationally, along with three freshmen who comprised a top-20 class.

» Georgia added much-needed scoring depth to this year’s roster. Three Lady Bulldogs led their respective teams in scoring last year (Turner with 12.2 ppg at Georgia, Theuerkauf with 12.0 ppg at Wake Forest, and Gonzalez with 16.9 ppg at Miami, Ohio).

» Six current Georgia players averaged double figures in scoring last season compared to just three double-figure scorers on last year’s Lady Bulldogs roster.

» Georgia welcomes back All-SEC guard Diamond Battles, who now serves as a graduate assistant. Battles was one of just three SEC players to rank in the top-15 in scoring, assists and steals during the 2022-23 season.
