It wasn’t the best conditions for track and field as those in Spec Towns Track were feeling the heat, but that didn’t stop the Bulldogs from dominating the day and winning seven events at the fifth annual Torrin Lawrence Memorial meet.

Friday’s attention surrounded freshman high jumper Elena Kulichenko who’s performance on the day tied for 7th all-time in school history with a 1.87 meter jump. Ranked 5th in the nation, her event truly is a sight to see out there juxtaposed to the competition.

Fellow Dawgs, Jamari Drake and Shelby Tyler were second and third in the women’s high jump behind Kulichenko.

Hammer throwing also had a good performance, seeing (men’s) Alencar Pereira’s 70.74m finish second overall collegiately. Women’s hammer throwing finished second, third, and fourth in their competition.

In the foot races, it was almost all Dawgs with multiple athletes nearing their personal bests. Biggest standout was senior Clay Pender running a 1:49 literally running away with a win in the 800m run.

Overall, Georgia showed out on its home turf and looks to do the same tomorrow starting at 8:30am with the 5000m run.
