In 1992, James Carville coined the phrased in the Clinton Campaign, “It’s the economy, stupid!” Well, in 2020 for the Georgia Bulldogs, it should be, “It’s the quarterback, stupid!”
There has been a lot of rumor and speculation going about with the December signing date approaching for the class of 2021. Also, each and every single class beyond 2021, including 2022 and 2023, are equally impacted by the moratorium on on-campus recruiting and in-home visits by college coaches. I reach out and gage the interest of major Georgia targets, across all classes, often. Many of these targets I’ve interviewed before, written about here on Bulldawg Illustrated or for Sports Illustrated when I was there, and have been asked to do artwork for their commitment announcements.
Without spoiling the moment for 4 Peach State recruits, all of which are 4-Star rankings or above, just know that Georgia is building a tsunami of recruiting momentum across the 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes. That wave should well set on the defensive side of the football! Yes, the defensive side. I know the title of the post says ‘the impact of an accurate quarterback’ and trust me, it is. Prospects today know that to win, and win it all, you have to have ‘a dude’ installed at the quarterback position. The 4 recruits on the defensive side of the ball that I expect to commit to Georgia in December all have a great relationship with Georgia and have for a while, but all have also expressed excitement about Georgia’s newfound offensive surge with JT Daniels and what it could mean for the Dawgs going forward.
In addition to the 4 defensive recruits from the state of Georgia across the 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes that I expect to commit to the ‘G’ in the next 31 days, Georgia is also gaining ground with Cade Klubnik, 2022 QB out of Westlake, Texas. Klubnik was in Athens, as exclusively reported and confirmed by Bulldawg Illustrated, in October. Klubnik came out on his own and visited the campus, which is allowed during the moratorium. He in particular has expressed how impressive the full potential of Todd Monken’s system has been to him and Buster Faulkner & Todd Monken are both in communication with him often. Klubnik is not the only out of state offensive prospect facinated by recent UGA offensive developments either. There is a certain running back in the 2021 class that Dell McGee suddenly has some new evidence to show.
Georgia will finish the 2020 calendar year with a bang in recruiting, one that will have multi-year repercussions. A LOT of this can be credited to the accuracy of JT Daniels and the unleashing of Todd Monken’s offensive system thanks to it.
