The Bulldogs took care of business in their final home game of the season with a 35-3 win over the Charlotte 49ers. Nate Frazier and Bo Walker’s combined five touchdown runs were enough to put the game away early and allow the depth of the roster to see quality playing time.

Before the game, Coach Smart embraced a senior class that won two SEC Championships and a national title during their time in Athens. Though there is certainly still a lot to play for this season, it was great to step back for a moment and acknowledge just how much this class has accomplished.

As Bulldog Nation heads home for Thanksgiving, Coach Smart and his staff are preparing for a matchup with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. This rivalry weekend of college football never seems to disappoint, as we’ve seen classic games over the past few years in the Dawgs-Jackets game and the Iron Bowl. Georgia has dominated their in-state rival under Coach Smart, with seven straight wins over the Jackets. However, this is one of the best Tech teams that we’ve seen in quite some time. Not that Coach Key needs any extra motivation to get his team ready for Georgia, but his team now needs a desperate win over the Bulldogs to have any chance at making the College Football Playoff. As we saw last season, the Jackets aren’t scared of Georgia and were a two-point conversion away from stunning a packed Sanford Stadium.

With these teams playing in separate conferences, it can be easy to forget about this non-conference game at the end of the season. However, I think it’s safe to say that we are all reminded why this game is known as a Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate once both teams meet between the lines and in the stands. Whether it be the eight overtime victory for Georgia last season or Tech’s stunning 28-27 win in Sanford Stadium back in 2016, both fanbases have some of their best and worst memories as a college football fan when they think back on this rivalry. Georgia Tech might be my least favorite team in football, but it is truly good to see this rivalry get back on the map with some national recognition. It’s going to be a great matchup in Mercedes-Benz this weekend in front of an angry Georgia Tech fan base, so don’t sleep on this game.
