ATHENS —— More than 60 Georgia football letterwinners from six different decades are expected to return to Sanford Stadium on Saturday, April 21, to take part in the annual lettermen’s flag football game prior to the Bulldogs’ G-Day spring game. The lettermen’s game is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. before the G-Day kickoff at 4 p.m.

Paul Messer, who lettered in 1984-85 as the Bulldogs’ snapper, will coach the Red Team while Todd Wheeler, who lettered from 1985-88 and served as a captain of head coach Vince Dooley’s final squad in ’88, will coach the Black Team. Three-year letterman Bobby Poss (1969-71) will serve as the public address announcer.

In addition to Wheeler, other Bulldog alums with NFL experience that are scheduled to participate include Mohamed Massaquoi, Brandon Miller and Dick Conn, who played six seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots from 1974-79.

This year’s G-Day game will begin at 4 p.m.  There will be no admission fee charged and Sanford Stadium gates will open at 1 p.m.
