Georgia vs. Auburn 2026 Preview

The Bulldogs return from Tuscaloosa with a perfect 6-0 record. With back- to-back wins over the Tide, Kirby Smart now moves to 2-2 against Kalen DeBoer. The Tides may be turning in Georgia’s favor for this premiere SEC battle. Georgia went into Bryant-Denny Stadium without its two top running backs and exited with a nail-biting win.

The victory was sweet. After the game, Coach Smart embraced his family, Bo Walker and the Bulldog fanbase. He has continuously given Dwight Phillips Jr. his flowers, and it showed up on the stat sheet Saturday. ‘Peanut’ had 120 yards on 17 carries against Alabama, taking on the starting running back role without an ounce of fear.

On Instagram after the game, Nate Frazier said every back in the room is RB1. The togetherness of this team is evident.

Georgia stands alone as the only team without a conference loss in the SEC. They also took over as the No. 1 team in the AP Poll.

Now, heading back to Athens, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs seek their 10th straight win over the Tigers. Georgia has a 66-56 record against Auburn all-time.

Auburn leads the SEC in sacks allowed, giving up 18 through five games. Byrum Brown and the Auburn offensive line has had its struggles. The Tigers had to replace six offensive linemen that recorded starts in 2025. They’re a relatively inexperienced group and have yet to face a defense quite like Georgia’s. In their toughest defensive front matchup against Florida, the Tigers gave up seven sacks.

The Bulldogs’ defense sacked Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell four times, making it 17 total sacks for the defense through six games. His containment was one of the biggest questions entering Saturday’s game. Although Russell still rushed for 41 yards, this was fantastic preparation for another dual threat quarterback in Byrum Brown.

On the offensive side of things, the Tigers average 26.8 points per game. They’re best offensive performance in an SEC matchup came against the Gators, where Byrum Brown threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns. Brown also led the team in rushing with 65 yards and a touchdown.

Second in the nation, the Bulldogs average 46.2 points per game. Coach Smart referred to Georgia’s offense as having the anaconda effect. He noted this while discussing confidence in ability to move the ball during the team’s final offensive possession against Alabama. Gunner Stockton continues to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in college football. He completed 18-of-22 pass attempts against the Tide and commanded 455 yards of total offense.
