Sunday, November 27th marked the beginning of a 15 day contact period in the 2016-2017 college football recruiting calendar. What does that mean? That despite the bitter loss to in-state rival Georgia Tech on Saturday, Georgia coaches were hitting the road recruiting.
The contact period allows coaches the chance to visit recruiting prospects and their families off campus, and each coach is allowed six off-campus visits per prospect. There are restrictions, however. Each staff member is allowed to visit a prospect more than once if they so choose but only once per week, and only staff members approved to recruit off campus, which usually includes the 9 assistant coaches, may be used. Some of the very first prospective student-athletes that got a visit from the Bulldogs’ staff were Jake Fromm and Richard LeCounte III.
Jake Fromm, who is a 2017 pro quarterback prospect out of Houston County High School currently committed to Georgia, got an in-home visit from Head Coach Kirby Smart and Offensive Coordinator Jim Chaney on Sunday.

Another class of 2017 Georgia commit, Richard Lecounte III, received an in-home visit from Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker and Inside Linebackers Coach Glenn Schumann.

Sam Pittman hit up three Georgia commits. The Bulldogs’ Offensive Line Coach visited with Pace Academy 2017 offensive tackle Andrew Thomas and Cedar Grove 2017 offensive guards Netori Johnson and Justin Shaffer. Georgia’s staff are expected to also visit 2017 wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman and 2017 defensive back Deangelo Gibbs this week.
The current contact period will end on December 11th for most recruiting prospects and on December 10th for junior college prospective student-athletes that will be enrolling early in January. There will be a dead period from December 12th through January 11th, and then a second contact period for 17 days from January 12th through January 28th.
