Georgia’s Mackenzie Engram was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday after leading the Lady Bulldogs offensively against No. 10 Texas A&M and No. 5 Tennessee last week.

Engram, a 6-2, forward from Powder Springs, Georgia, and Hillgrove High School, led Georgia in scoring in back-to-back outings against two top-10 opponents, connecting on 68.8 percent of field goals, 66.7 percent of 3-point attempts and 100 percent of her free throws.
[break] [break] In a 54-51 upset win over the Aggies, Engram scored a game-high 16 points while grabbing seven rebounds in 22 minutes of playing time. Engram then accounted for the first 10 points of the Lady Bulldogs’ second matchup of the week against the Lady Vols, eventually notching 14 points in a 51-59 loss in Knoxville.
[break] [break] Engram entered the week averaging 7.3 points per game, but more than doubled that number last week by averaging 15.0 ppg to raise her season average to 8.0 ppg.
[break] [break] Engram is the 11th different Lady Bulldogs to earn SEC Freshman of the Week since the award’s inception with the 2005-06 season. Those players have secured a combined 22 Freshman of the Week honors.
