What life lessons did you learn while at UGA?

That relationships matter, that you should always treat people with respect, and that you never know when a relationship or opportunity from one chapter of your life will become important in another. UGA also taught me to take advantage of every opportunity, work hard, and enjoy the journey along the way.

What professor did you most admire (and why)?

Dr. Jeffrey Dorfman. He brought real-world applications into everything he taught and always challenged his students to work hard and think outside the box. Dr. Dorfman also served as the State Fiscal Economist for the State of Georgia during my time as his student, which gave his classes an especially valuable perspective on how what we were learning applied to the real world.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Marrying my best friend, Jarrett. Beyond that, I’m proud of building a life and career that I enjoy while maintaining strong relationships with family, friends, and the people I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. At the end of the day, I think the relationships you build and the people you impact are a much better measure of success than any title or professional accomplishment.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

George Washington. I have always admired his sense of duty, his character, and his willingness to put service ahead of personal ambition.

Who are your heroes in real life?

I’d say my grandfathers. They are great men, great fathers, and great husbands. I’m also especially grateful for all the years I had to learn from my Great Uncle Jimmy Carter—not that one!

Quote to live by:

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Spending time with my wife, family, and friends.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Loyalty. Once I’m in your corner, I’m in your corner.

What do you most value in your friends?

Loyalty. I value knowing that the people around you will be there for you through the good times and the bad.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I could play an instrument—or be a great golfer!

Who are your favorite writers?

Sir Thomas Carlyle and Winston Churchill. I enjoy both because they make you think about leadership, perseverance, and character—not just what happened in history, but why it mattered. For sports insight, the legendary Voice of the Dawgs, Jeff Dantzler.

Favorite social media and who to follow?

I don’t know that I have a favorite social media platform these days. But I do encourage everyone to give Appointments at Five a follow! It’s one of the best small businesses in Athens, with a pretty awesome woman business owner. (She may or may not be my wife!)
