3 Things Savannah Wants to See from Georgia

The Allstate Sugar Bowl is finally here! Georgia fans have waited almost an entire month for this day. Regardless of making the playoffs or not, the Bulldogs made a New Year Six bowl game and have the chance to win 12 games this season. However, to earn that 12th win, Georgia must defeat the Texas Longhorns first. Here are three quick things that Georgia needs to do in my opinion to beat the Longhorns.

1: Run the Dang Ball

Georgia has had success all season long toting the rock. The Bulldogs are on 44 yards away from having consecutive seasons with two running backs rushing for a 1,000 yards. D’Andre Swift already has 1,037 yards, and Elijah Holyfield has 956. This game is just icing on the cake for both guys. Feed them and then feed the young guys, like James Cook, if they’re healthy enough to go. I expect a balanced game, but for the running game to be what sets Georgia over the edge.

2: Secondary Growth

With Deandre Baker not playing, this secondary has a tall task. Despite him not playing, this secondary has rotated enough to trust these younger guys. Tyson Campbell and Eric Stokes will likely be the guys who get the call, but Mark Webb could be another that could get his number called. Texas has two huge targets, and if these guys can contain them or minimize their performance, the Bulldogs will win this game.

3: Spike Pads Used a lot… and I mean A lot

Georgia needs to make Texas turn the ball over. The Spike pads need to be brought out at least two times today. The defensive line needs to put pressure on Sam Ehlinger and force him to make mistakes. If the secondary can see the ball well enough, they should pick off some balls. However, it would be awesome to see someone like Jonathan Ledbetter or D’Andre Walker to get a strip sack. Either way, the Bulldogs defense needs to force turnovers and make Texas quit early on in this game.

SL’s Score Prediction

It didn’t take me long to figure out my score prediction for this week. Georgia is more talented, deeper, and has a massive chip on their shoulder. With how the two semi-final games went on Saturday, I expect the Bulldogs to come out guns blazing.  Jake Fromm and company will put up a lot of points and show no mercy to Texas’s defense. Look for a few turnovers and for Georgia’s defense to make Texas quit. It may stay close for the first half, but I expect the Bulldogs to do what they’ve done all year long and control the third quarter and force them to give up.

Georgia proves the committee and the entire country wrong and curb stomps Texas 56-21.
