LLOYD AVANT (RB #9) – Colorado State transfer Lloyd Avant is currently leading the Sooners in rushing yards with one touchdown. According to offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, Avant has been taking the most snaps at running back and has proved himself to be the most trusted in the rotation. Since John Mateer has struggled to bounce back, the offense depends on the run game, and that means Avant. He has embraced this responsibility and proved he is Oklahoma’s most consistent option out of the backfield.

‌ROCKY BEERS (TE #81) – Another Colorado State transfer, Rocky Beers has proved himself a steady player for the Sooners offense. In the loss against Michigan, Beers had six receptions for 94 yards and showed promise for the Oklahoma offense. Beers is second in receiving yards so far this season with 171, and has one touchdown. This is Beers’ seventh season in college football, so he, like Mateer, has extensive experience against high-pressure opponents.

‌JOHN MATEER (QB #10) – John Mateer was in Heisman consideration going into the 2026 season; after a devastating loss to Michigan in week two, Mateer and the Sooners have struggled to bounce back. Prior to his injury in game four of the 2025 season, Mateer threw for 1,215 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. Mateer is a veteran quarterback and has experience handling competitors such as Georgia. Since Oklahoma has struggled to show a powerful run game, they will be dependent on Mateer’s arm to lead their scoring.

‌PEYTON BOWEN (DB #22) – Four-year Sooner, Peyton Bowen enters his senior season in Norman as the key for their secondary. Bowen is utilized not just as a deep safety but can also make plays close to the line, as shown against New Mexico with his 1.5 sacks that game. Against Georgia, Bowen is another experienced veteran who can affect the passing game and the run defense.

‌OWEN HEINECKE (LB #38) – After suing and beating the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility, Owen Heinecke is making the most of it and leads the Sooners in total tackles (25). Against New Mexico, Heinecke had eight total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He is one of the most experienced linebackers for the Sooners defense and is considered one of the most responsible and vocal leaders for the defensive line.

‌TATE SANDELL (PK #29) – Tate Sandell is one to watch for the upcoming match-up of the Sooners and Bulldogs. Sandell was the first kicker from Oklahoma to win the Lou Groza Award and was named First-Team All-American going into the 2026 season by the AP. Last season, Sandell had an 88.9% field goal percentage and is the lead scorer for the Sooners offense this season with 17 points. Despite a missed 42-yard field goal in their win against New Mexico, Sandell is still key to the Sooners’ offense and can determine the scheme of the game.
