Baseball: UGA Will Host NCAA Regional

The University of Georgia has been selected to play host to a 2019 NCAA Baseball Regional, May 31 through June 3 at Foley Field, it was announced late Sunday. 

The Bulldogs (44-15) will be making their 12thoverall appearance in an NCAA Regional including their sixth as a regional host at Foley Field. The Bulldogs have won four of five previous regionals in Athens, advancing in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2008. This marks the second year in a row that the Bulldogs will serve as a regional host. The teams coming to Foley Field for the 2019 NCAA Athens Regional will be announced Monday at noon on ESPNU with game times to follow.

Georgia returns to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years for the first time since 2008-09. Georgia’s Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin has led the Bulldogs to a 44-15 overall record and the second best mark in SEC games at 21-9. Currently, the Bulldogs are No. 3 in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), according to the NCAA.

 

 

 

 

There are 16 four-team regionals that comprise the field of 64. The NCAA Tournament field of 64, the top 16 seeds and the bracket will be released Monday at noon on ESPNU. If a team wins its regional, and it is a top eight national seed, it would play host to a Super Regional, June 7-10.In Super Regional action, eight sites play host to a best-of-three game series with the winners earning one of eight spots to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. (June 15-26). Georgia is one of six SEC teams that will serve as an NCAA Regional host along with Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss. State and Vanderbilt.

We look forward to playing again at Foley Field in front of our fans. They have provided us a big advantage this year and one of the reasons we are 28-3 at home.”

*Note: All chairback seats inside the regular Foley Field seating areas will be Reserved Seats during the postseason. General Admission seating will be located in the Right Field Bleachers.

Single Game Tickets
Depending on advance sales, single-game tickets may be available on the day of the game at Foley Field.
