Florence, Italy – Five players scored in double figures to lead the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team to a 97-65 win against Italy Select on Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in exhibitions during their current foreign tour in Italy. Georgia will play one more game on Sunday night against the University of Ottawa (Canada).

On Friday, freshman Javyn Nicholson led all scorers in the game with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds, marking her second-straight contest with double-digit boards. Nicholson hit 8-of-11 from the field and has shot 75 percent (12-of-16) from the floor in two games.

Senior Stephanie Paul added 16 points, while Mikayla Coombs tossed in 11.

“Game two is in the books, and we saw a lot of good things out there,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “Of course, we have plenty to work on. This opportunity gives our freshmen a chance to learn our style of play, and I am pleased with their progress. I am pleased with all of our players, but especially our newcomers, for how they have picked up on our tempo and how we want to play. This is such a neat experience and I can’t thank our administration enough for allowing us to go on this trip.”

The Lady Bulldogs will leave Florence and head to Venice and then Trieste on Saturday morning. Georgia will spend the remainder of the trip in northeast Italy.
