Daily Dawg Thread – 29August2019: North Shore’s Zachary Evans Opens Senior Season on ESPNU

Running back Zachary Evans is set to start his senior season with North Shore High School tonight (Thursday) as the Mustangs host the Katy Tigers. The kick off time is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPNU and will be live-streamed on WatchESPN.

Evans is a 5-foot-11 and 200 lbs five-star RB prospect per 247Sports and per Rivals. He is rated the No. 1 RB for 2020 by both recruiting services and the No. 1 player from the state of Texas. Rivals has him as the No. 13 recruit in the country overall while 247 has him as the No. 6.

Back in May, Evans released his top-5 schools which included Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, and Oklahoma out of over 44 scholarship offers. Strangely, it did not include any of the major programs from the Lone Star State like the University of Texas or Texas A&M.

Where do the Bulldogs stand with Evans?

If I had to use one word to answer that question at the moment, it would be “great.” Evans visited UGA back on July 27th and by all account had a very good time in Athens.

The last eight of the 13 crystal ball predictions by 247Sports experts have been to Georgia as well. Even though the Bulldogs have a commitment from a five-star RB already for 2020, Kendall Milton committed to UGA on July 29th, I don’t think that effects Evans’ recruitment negatively at all. Evans hasn’t set a date to announce his commitment decision as of yet, but could very well be one of the next prospects to do so.
