Daily Dawg Thread 30 October 2019: Georgia among the schools in Jordan Burch’s final five

One of the top defensive ends in the 2020 recruiting class, Jordan Burch, released his top-five schools at the start of the week on Monday evening. His top-five included the University of Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, LSU, and South Carolina.

Of course, the burning question on most every Dawg fans’ mind is which of those five programs will Burch commit to and when? What are Georgia’s chances?

Burch took an official visit to LSU this past weekend to see the Bayou Bengals beat Auburn 23-20. In the subsequent Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls that were released after week number nine’s games were in the books, while LSU remained No. 2 in the Coaches Poll, the Tigers were dubbed the new No. 1 team in college football by the AP. Louisiana State U has a lot of momentum right now, and they just recently got a big, if not surprising, commit from the number one tight end for 2020, Marietta’s Arik Gilbert, a week ago on Wednesday, October 23rd.

While I’m sure Burch had a great time on his official to LSU… Baton Rouge and ‘Death Valley’ is an awesome college football experience…, I still think the three main schools vying for the Hammond School senior are Clemson, Georiga, and South Carolina. Between those three programs, I think it is going to come down to Clemson and South Carolina, but as we have seen in the case of Gilbert’s announcement last week, anything can happen when it comes to college football recruiting.

Whichever one of his top-five schools ends up getting Burch’s commitment, they are going to be getting a dynamic playmaker on the defensive side of the ball.

The 6-foot-5 and 250 lbs senior out of Hammond School from Columbia, SC is rated the No. 1 strong-side defensive end and a 5-star prospect by 247Sports as well as Rivals. He is considered the top prospective student-athlete from the Palmetto State and one of the top-five recruits nationally overall for 2020.
