WGOLF: Caterina Don and Céleste Dao Knotch Top 20 Finishes
Caterina Don and Céleste Dao, rising seniors on the Georgia women’s golf team, wrapped up solid showings in key amateur tournaments over the weekend.
Don finished as the runner up at the Italian Ladies Stroke Play Championship at Margara Golf Club in Fubine, Italy. The native of Pinerolo, Italy, covered the 72-hole event at 3-under 285, with a pair of scores in the 60s. Don was the first-round leader after an opening loop of 3-under 69 last Thursday and followed that with an even-par 72. She carded another 69 on Saturday before closing with a 75. Don was one of only two golfers in the field of 82 to finish with an under-par tally.
Dao tied for 15th at the Porter Cup, which was contested at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York. After opening with a 74, Dao fired a 3-under 69 to surge into the top 10 entering the final round. She eventually completed play at 7-over 223.
