Baseball: Black Squad Evens Fall World Series

The Black team posted a 4-1 victory to even the Fall World Series at one game apiece Saturday at Foley Field.

In the third inning, redshirt freshman Trippe Moore III broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run. The Black squad added another run in the fifth on an RBI-single from junior Buddy Floyd. Junior Jonathan Cannon notched the win as he combined with Michael Polk and Hank Bearden for a three-hitter. Bearden collected a save with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts.

The Red squad claimed game one Friday 5-0. The rubber game of the series will be Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

 

 

 

 

Game 2 Highlights

*Graduate Ben Anderson began the game with a leadoff double.

*Sophomore Parks Harber gave the Black team its first lead with an RBI-single in the first.

 

 

 

 

*Sophomore Josh Stinson tied the game with an RBI fielder’s choice, scoring graduate Connor Tate who reached with a leadoff single.

*Sophomore Fernando Gonzalez threw out Stinson trying to steal second to end the second.

*Redshirt freshman Trippe Moore III put the Black team up 3-1 with a two-run shot in the third.

*Junior Jonathan Cannon started for the Black team and provided three innings and allowed one run on two hits with no walks and two strikeouts for a win.

*Freshman DJ Radtke struck out the side in his first inning of work and finished with five strikeouts in two innings.

*Junior Michael Polk provided two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

*Freshman Glenn Green III tossed two perfect frames with three strikeouts.

*Sophomore Hank Bearden notched a save with two innings and four strikeouts.
