Today on Bulldawg Illustrated we look at several 2019 tight end prospects.

Georgia received a commitment from 2019 tight end Ryland Goede on NSD2018. He is a 6 foot 7, and 235 lbs Peach State prospect out of Kennesaw Mt. High School. With the UGA staff taking two tight ends in the 2018 class in Ryan Fitzgerald and Luke Ford along with having Isaac Nauta and Charlie Woerner possibly through 2019 (if both stay at Georgia through their senior year), will the Dogs take more than one tight end in the 2019 class?

It’s possible, but it may come down to numbers. Right now, there are 15 rising seniors on scholarship after the departure of Roquan Smith and Trenton Thompson to the draft; so Georgia may not be able to sign a full 25 in 2019 because that would put them 10 over the 85 scholarship limit if all 25 of those signees enrolled. Of course, that doesn’t take into account transfers and early departures to the NFL between now 2019. That being said, the Bulldog’s staff could decide to go with just Goede in 2019 and then load up on 2 tight ends in 2020.

Let’s take a look at some 2019 tight end prospects.

TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS

If position ranking is noted, unless otherwise stated, it is 247 Sports latest composite ranking of the player.

LUKE DEAL

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: TE

HT, WT: 6 foot 5, and 230 lbs

SCHOOL: Emerald High School

CITY, STATE: Greenwood, SC

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, UGA offered on Dec. 12th.

# OFFERS: 5

NEWS & NOTES: Georgia offered tight end Luke Deal on Dec. 12th. It was his second FBS offer, with NC State being the first program to offer Deal. Since then, Auburn, Coastal Carolina, and Rice have also offered Deal. The talented 6 foot 5, and 230 lbs junior also plays at DE for Emerald High and stepped in at QB in a couple of games. He also plays basketball for the Vikings.

Deal reminds me of current UGA commit, 2018 TE John Fitzpatrick out of Marist High School. Both have similar frames and are athletic for their size. Fitzpatrick may be a step faster than Deal. He is a ferocious blocker and does a really good job of getting out of stance and his hat and hands on a defender, often driving the defender down the field or to the ground on the play. As a receiver, he makes a lot of tough catches over the middle of the field, does a good job of catching the ball with his hands and not letting it go into his body.

Deal took an unoffical visit to UGA on Jan. 20th.

ETHAN RAE

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: No. 7 TE

HT, WT: 6 foot 5, and 240 lbs

SCHOOL: Orange Lutheran High School

CITY, STATE: Orange, CA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 04/27/2017.

# OFFERS: 14

NEWS & NOTES: UGA offered Ethan Rae back in the spring of 2017 in April. The California high school football prospect is favoring the west coast schools at the moment and that is understandable. But as the 2019 recruiting cycle heats up, it will be interesting to see if Georgia and any of the other programs East of the Mississippi have any pull on Rae.

Rae is still considered one of the top-ten tight ends in the 2019 class, but he has seen his ranking drop some due to a season ending knee injury he suffered back in August. I look for him to return to form for his senior year and have a monster season.

KEON ZIPPERER

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: No. 2 TE

HT, WT: 6 foot 3, and 232 lbs

SCHOOL: Lakeland High School

CITY, STATE: Lakeland, FL

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, UGA offered on 06/15/2017.

# OFFERS: 29

NEWS & NOTES: Keon Zipperer camped and visited UGA this past summer on June 15th and received an offer from the Dogs the very same day. Georgia’s offer is one of twenty-nine that Keon has received so far as he is considered one of the top three tight ends in the 2019 recruiting class.

Right now, he is leaning towards a couple of the Sunshine State schools in the Gators and the Seminoles. Keon visited FSU back in the fall on Oct. 7th, and Clemson on Nov. 11th. He has taken a couple of unofficial visits to Florida and Miami over the past month, and he also visited Alabama on Feb. 3rd.
