Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Was just chatting with Jake Reuse and Jake Rowe at CKS Camp OL field. All agreed today had the best talent yet and you could make a SEC OL from the guys on hand.

Greg Poole Judging by the G-Day game, that record is going to fall quickly and be surpassed often this season… regardless of which of the 3 QBs we have playing.

New OC and totally new strategy.

DawgLink Just like me yelling all last year let Godwin throw from the Wild Dawg and then in the bowl game Bam!

  4. BahitsAgain

AlphaDawg WalktheDawg Whisky We put 24 on him.   When I went to look that score up, I was stunned with our offensive trend last year.

    51
    31
    52
    48
    38
    10
31  Chubb go hurt at the beginning, but we still got 31
    9
    3
    27
    20

    13
    24

We started out like a rocket, then our engines seriously sputtered.

I truly hope they want em but I believe that boat had sailed. They probably want a young business man

Good morning LH/BI com padres!  Little late getting on this morning!  Dang internet problems here at work, had to call in the big guns! lol

WalktheDawg Whisky They’re also getting a pass on having to replace a very good Left Tackle as well as their backup center who played a bunch last year. Their offensive line is getting praised for having experience, more so than they are for their talent level. The reality is that Dobbs bails out the OL a lot with his ability to scramble and short quick passes he throws…especially to Kamara. Bama played the Kamara pass play really well last year, while also holding Dobbs in check from running. Tennessee fans were universally very excited about how they played Bama last year; ignoring the fact that they only scored 7 points up until about the 5 minute mark of the 4th quarter…and ignoring the fact that Tennessee wa socming off a bye week and Bama was playing their 8th straight game. We all know what Bama did to LSU the follwing game after Bama had their bye week.

Hobnailboot aka RobG I don’t think Tennessee…or any team gets both. Sounds like Jones is shaping up to be a OSU-Tennessee battle. Lawrence is hard to read. I definitely think UGA is in it. I suspect Tennessee’s offensive system is an obstacle for Tennessee, and the same could be said for Clemson. Clemson also has a 5* QB committed for 2017; and all these kids look at the depth chart. It doesn’t mean they’re afraid of competition, it’s just means they’re being smart. I also think Pittman’s O-lIne history may help Georgia some.

Greg Poole The answer is No. We will never replace Murray. We will however have great QB play from Eason and Fromm. And then from Jones or Lawrence.

  10. AlphaDawg

WalktheDawg Whisky  AlphaDawg Absolutely. Also, UGA beat Shoop already this year with a system he’s had time to build. Personally I think Butch has this season to go 8 wins or more. Go 5 or less, he and shoop might be looking for a new gig together.

AlphaDawg I don’t disagree that UT should be the preseason pick…  I get that UGA was expected to do well with a new OC..it was assumed that the guy would be implementing the CMR system anyway and that CMR always had decent QB training/development. That does not apply in this UT transition. Now I think the new DC is a significant upgrade..but you have to think that they are going to have some issues.

  12. AlphaDawg

Hobnailboot aka RobG As much as I want UGA to take Lawrence and another QB for 2018, I don’t think Lawrence is going anywhere that’s taking two big QBs. I’ll take Lawrence solely and be happy with that choice.

  13. Greg Poole

There is supposed to be another 7v7 tourney today. Temps in the mid-nineties should test their hydration strategies.

  14. AlphaDawg

WalktheDawg Whisky Same reason we were expected to win the east with a brand new OC and 2nd string QB transfer from Virginia. They’ll write anything to get people stirred up. Let them, I want the Vols hype train so packed, it runs off the tracks, crashes and burns for good.

  15. WalktheDawg Whisky

How does UT get a pass on the fact that they have hired a new DC this year… Now I would think most UGA fans would think that dumping Jancek upgraded the UT staff…even if they did not replace the guy… but you would think that the “EXPERTS” would at least say that UT will have issues with a new DC trying to put his system in place..

  16. AlphaDawg

Feels good to be back in the office. Well, I was sort of right, we always get a commit when I’m out for conference week. It fell over the weekend but still, the streak lives on!

  17. Greg Poole

WalktheDawg Whisky That is funny.  Moral: Never makes assumptions based on the content of a Bama paper.
