Yep, my point was there are some talking heads out there that claim they know everything going on but it’s all hot air.
Kirby wants them smaller. I Bama started the transition a few years ago and CKS has talked about it this summer.
That’s the plan. Only draw back is I’ll be watching it in standard definition on a 20 inch screen

Yea I think that’s right, I’d prefer natrez stay at his weight from last year but the coaches have a plan. It’s funny how other recruiting places make the case that they know what happened or that we stopped recruiting him, heck even some are saying we want bigger LBs but that’s not even the case. We will just have to wait and let it play out.
Sure we play away Friday night so that sounds good

DawgByte Roquan is 6 foot 1, and Roundtree is also 6-1. Thomas Davis played ILB at 6-1 and 220 lbs back in 2003 when he moved from safety to LB.
Coaching staff asked Natrez Patrick to drop down to 228 lbs. He’s listed at 238, but I don’t believe that is accurate.
The idea is for you big d-linemen to take on the blockers and allow the linebackers to shoot the gap and make plays in space.
But aye. I would like the ILBs to be in that 235-240 lbs range, but I’m trusting the coaching staff on this one. They have a plan.

Bulldawg Bob2 DawgByte Isn’t Roquan like 6’2″? I may be a lone warrior out there, but I want big ILB’s, guys in the 6’3″ 235-245 lb. range that can move and shed interior line blocks. I know there’s an emphasis on speed these days, but guys who are 6’0″ 220 lbs. are going to be swimming upstream when Centers and Guards are coming at them with 300+lbs. on their frames. We’ve been getting killed up the middle over the last few years with Pruitt type smaller ILB’s and I’d like to see that trend change. Heck most fullbacks these days are going 240-250 lbs., not to mention TE’s, both have responsibilities in blocking ILB’s.
I agree with you that Georgia is probably courting other LBs with more fervor. Nate McBride is my priority #1 get for the remainder of this class.
DawgByte You make a good point. He is a “tweener” at the ILB, but Roquan Smith was no heavier than Breon Dixon when he came out of high school to Georgia.
Smith has a little bigger frame and is up to 225 lbs now, but I could see Dixon adding 7 lbs to be in that range without any problems.
And Rashad Roundtree isn’t but in the 215 to 220 lbs range moving from his DB spot to ILB.
I think it has more to do with that Georgia is recruiting a number linebackers for 2017 and there maybe some guys higher on Georgia’s board, ie Leonard Warner and Nate McBride.

Regarding the Dixon de-commit… I saw that one coming. At 6′ 218 lb., I don’t think he’s big enough to play ILB at the SEC level. I think they’re were going to have to leverage his speed and ball hawking skills at Safety.

diving duck He’s not a “must have” kind of recruit and we’re in on a lot of linebackers. It’s one of those commitments that might have never happened if Kirby had been in charge earlier in the process.
Bulldawg36 Then he would never play. Matt Ryan isn’t great, but he is rugged as a John Dear tractor. Management will stick with him until he retires. It doesn’t matter if #2 and #3 behind him is better. It is foolish pride.
