Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Somebody asked, and forgive me because I cannot remember who, about what we could potentially see out of Mel Tucker’s defense as far as scheme and specifically secondary coverage, zone or man?

He has run both a 3-4 scheme as well as 1-gap and 2-gap 4-3 d-line fronts over his career on the defensive side of the ball. He has also played a good bit of cover 2 and Tampa 2 type coverages out of that 4-3 front, and last year at Bama rotated the DBs between about 6 to 7 guys.

I would not be surprised to see some variation of a cover 2 or a Tampa 2 though, but it all depends on what Tucker feels he has at DB and what those men are able to grasp and do. Based on what I have seen out of Tucker, he will put the Georgia DBs in the best position to make plays and be successful, but he does like his CBs and DBs to be physical and come up and pop the runner and ball carrier.

Also, a Tampa 2 requires a very smart and athletic middle linebacker who can drop back into zone coverage on pass plays, and often offenses will try to run at the weakside linebacker to exploit this type of defense to suck down the defenders to get a big play over the top; so, the WLB has to also be a solid run defender and tackler. Sounds simple enough, but it all depends on the personnel to run a Tampa 2.

Good thing is, he has 2 experienced safeties to work with in Mauger and Sanders, and Wilson played in 11 games last year behind them. Losing Johnathan Abram hurt IMO, because I thought he played well when he was in at safety, but Tucker has some experience and talent to work with in the secondary.

Bulldawg Bob2 Greg Poole Nah, only 4 wheeler all-terrain, and make sure that you aim for every bump otherwise you’re not a real man###

Bulldawg36 Damn, sorry to hear that. Mrs.  36 mushy be getting bummed over al of these rejections. But it’ll eventually work out. She’ll have to mind the baby until she’s at least 2 years old, daycare etc is NO substitute for a mother’s love and attention.

    Friday, Sept. 24 vs. Georgia
Record in Last 5 Meetings: 0-5
Last Year’s Result: Did not play. The last meeting was in 2012, which Georgia won 37-10,
Why it matters: LSU will likely have a better team than Georgia this year (although it could be very close). LSU is also in the SEC West, whereas Georgia is in the SEC East. So, why pick Georgia as more of a key game over LSU? It’s because of where it stands on the schedule. Georgia is game number four, coming after Florida State and the week directly following the showdown with Alabama. Expect Ole Miss to throw everything they can at Alabama. When Georgia comes to Oxford, they may find a beat-up Ole Miss team. Ole Miss has to win this game because the LSU game is a likely loss due to the location. Recent history also hasn’t been very good to Ole Miss in this series. Freeze is only 0-1 against the Dawgs, but Georgia has won the last ten meetings of the two schools.

Naw the Matt Author elementary school in Kathleen turned her down. She probably won’t apply any more for a while since the baby is about due

Heck yeah! Their was a bad wreck on I-95. We got stuck out there over an hour. About ran out of gas with a prego woman in the car. Lesson learned always keep the tank on a long trip!!!!

Good question but it probably is in the 51% category or above. Just a guess on my part though.

No one can do that on a mobile device. The reason is that Livefyre is trying to keep the overhead down on mobile. If you are on a laptop and having problems there is done other issue.

I’ve cleared everything so let’s see if that helps. One other question. I still cannot tag someone like typing @Greg Poole and have it show up in my post. Any idea why that doesn’t work for me?

RobDawg  There have been no server issues lately (days) and the server is operating well below capacity. Sounds like you are using all of your RAM. Restart the device might help, as well as, clearing the browser cache.

Anyone else who is running iOS to get on BI experiencing frequent problems with the website? I get an error that the website experienced problems and needs to restart. I’ve been reading posts and articles over past 20 mins or so and its already occurred twice on me. Also I am finding that while typing this post there is a noticeable lag in what words I type showing in this dialog box

I love the guy who commented on the http://bulldawgillustrated.com/kirbys-quarterback-quandary/ post. In the past, would be a little bit sarcastic with people who miss the point of a post (or respond to the title). After long experience, I have learned not to waste my time.
