[su_spacer size=”20″] Georgia’s Olivia Ball qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships on 3-meter springboard in the Zone B Diving Championships at Gabrielsen Natatorium on Monday.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Needing a top-7 finish to advance, Ball rolled up 679.20 points to come in third. Last month at Auburn, the freshman from Powell, Ohio, won the SEC title on 3-meter. She will join Georgia’s swimmers for the NCAAs March 18-20 in Greensboro, N.C.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “There’s always stuff I would do differently if I could, but overall it was exactly what I needed,” Ball said. “My goal was to get in the top seven, so even if I’d been seventh, I would’ve been happy. Finishing third helps me going into the NCAAs to be more confident. It was the kind of day I needed.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Darcie O’Brien placed 34th on 3-meter with 235.05 points.
[su_spacer size=”40″] In the men’s 1-meter competition, Ian Forlini came in 10th with a two-round total of 635.60 points to miss qualifying for the NCAAs by just one spot. Crawford Berry finished 19th with 280.75 points and Walker Wheeler placed 28th with 223.74 points.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The men’s NCAAs will take place March 25-27 in Iowa City, Iowa.
