Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc of the UGA women’s tennis team both fell short on Thursday during the first round in the main draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

Bulldog sophomore Elena Christofi, ranked 10th nationally, lost a three-set match to 25th-ranked Jessica Livanu (St. John’s), 6-0,1-6,7-5. In doubles, the 34th-ranked team of Christofi and freshman Morgan Coppoc rallied back from a 7-1 deficit but ultimately fell 8-6 to the Vanderbilt tandem of Emma Kurtz and Christina Rosca.

Christofi owns a 6-3 singles record this fall while the Christofi/Coppoc team is 4-3. They will be in action in the consolation draw Friday. Each player/team is guaranteed at least two matches at this collegiate grand slam tournament.
