
Men’s and Women’s Golf
The No. 37 Georgia men’s golf team just finished play on March 29 at The Goodwin T11 after shooting a collective 14-over on the tournament in San Francisco. Earlier in March, the team took home first place in the Linger Longer Invitational at The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee on Tuesday, March 18. The team has a couple weeks to rest and practice before meeting again on the golf course for The Ford in Savannah, Georgia on April 14-16 and then the SEC Champion, April 23-27 at Sea Island Golf Club. The Georgia women’s golf team finished sixth on the 15-team leaderboard, covering 54 holes at The Honors Course in 906. In the second and third rounds of the Chattanooga Classic on March 29, the team posted scores of 306 and 301. Graduate student Chantal El Chaib was Georgia’s top individual finisher at the Chattanooga Classic, shooting 5-over 221. After a 10-day break, the Lady Dogs will host the 53rd annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Tuesday, April 8 at the University of Georgia Golf Course, featuring 36 holes. Then they will head to Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida for the SECs, April 14-18.
Gym Dawgs
After a busy season, the No. 10 GymDogs qualified for the Regional Finals at the Alaska Airlines Arena on April 3-6. The GymDogs placed third in session one of round two at the NCAA Washington Regional. Despite not being strong enough to advance to nationals, the GymDogs kicked off the Cécile Canqueteau-Landi and Ryan Roberts era with a bang in year one. They placed seventh overall in the SEC Gymnastics Championships while tying for third in Session I of the tournament. Sophomore Lily Smith was named to the All-SEC Team and freshman Nyla Aquino has earned herself a spot on the All-Freshman Team. The GymDogs were 4-1 at home and the buzz around UGA Gymnastics… we’re just getting started!
Softball
No. 15 Georgia was defeated in Tuscaloosa by Alabama in the finale, 8-5, on March 30. Georgia is currently 25-10 on the season and 4-8 in SEC play. Throughout April, the Bulldogs have several home stands at Jack Turner Stadium. So far this season, freshman Paislie Allen hit her first career home run. Senior Lilli Backes, ranked as the No. 13 pitcher in D1Softball’s position rankings, has been a great leader this season. Backes was the winning pitcher in Tuscaloosa (10-3). The Lady Dogs and head coach Tony Baldwin still have a long season of conference play ahead of them.
Men’s Tennis
At the end of March, the No. 28 Georgia men’s tennis team defeated Ole Miss and North Carolina in a double-header. This win allowed the Bulldogs to improve to 14-7 (7-3 SEC). Another big win for the Bulldogs was defeating No. 16 Mississippi State on March 15. Senior Miguel Perez Peña has recorded his career high in singles rankings, No. 31. The men’s team host Texas on April 11 and Texas A&M on April 13 before the SEC Tournament begins April 16 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Women’s Tennis
The Georgia women’s tennis team has been on a roll this season. On March 30, the No. 1 Georgia women’s tennis team (18-1, 11-0 SEC) defeated No. 66 Mississippi State, extending their winning streak. The team has found great success with their new doubles duo, Hayden Mulberry and Aysegul Mert, who were ranked at the No. 3 spot in completed dual matches at the end of March. After a few away matches, the team will head to Auburn, Alabama for the 2025 SEC Women’s Tennis Championship, April 16-20.
Equestrian
At the end of March, the Georgia equestrian team traveled to Mill Spring, North Carolina to compete in the SEC Equestrian Championship. In the semifinal, the second-seeded Georgia Bulldogs fell to No. 3 seeded Texas A&M, 10-9. Following the SEC Equestrian Championship, graduate jumper Sophia Pilla was named the 2025 Southeastern Conference Equestrian Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Pilla holds the highest score in Flat for the Bulldogs. The equestrian team will have a couple weeks off before they participate in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championship in Ocala, Florida on April 17-19.
Track & Field
The Georgia track and field team has received lots of recognition for their efforts this spring. At the end of March, three members earned Southeastern Conference honors following the team’s opening outdoor weekend. Senior Lianna Davidson won Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, freshman hurdler Michelle Smith won Women’s Freshman of the Week and freshman sprinter Ervin Pearson won Men’s Co-Runner of the Week. On March 27-28 the Distance Dawgs traveled to Raleigh to participate in relays where sophomore Ryan Olree broke the program’s 10,000m run record with his 28:38.98 time. In April, the track and field team hits the road all month long and then will compete in the SEC Outdoor Championships, May 15 in Lexington, Kentucky.
