4 – Penalties against Auburn
Playing against an unranked opponent at home, the Dawgs committed costly violations time and time again, resulting in continuous life provided for the Tigers. These repeated mistakes forced the Georgia defense to continually regroup after apparent stops and solid strings of defensive football.
3 – Turnovers
Against the talented Tiger defense, the Dawgs struggled to hold onto the football, including a crucial fourth-quarter fumble in a tie football game. The turnover battle was preached repeatedly by Coach Smart, but the lack of ball security continued to give life to an Auburn team that had a foot on their throat.
6 – Losses at home under Kirby Smart
Yes, any loss stings and causes an uproar across the entire fanbase, but this is only the sixth loss at Sanford Stadium during the illustrious tenure of Coach Smart. The utter dominance found Between the Hedges for the past decade is simply unheard of across the ever-changing and adapting sport of college football.
88 – Craig Dandridge Receiving Yards
One of the many bright spots after the loss comes from this new receiving room. As a freshman, Dandridge is quietly beginning to take over a large share of targets and taking over offensive drives when called upon. His ability to stretch every single secondary vertically is on display every single time Coach Bobo draws it up, and he has found a vital role producing crucial grabs every single Saturday. His 88 receiving yards against the Tigers was a team high, and his versatility and route tree continue to improve week after week.
10 – Raylen Wilson Solo Tackles
Becoming a literal heat seeking missile every single defensive snap, Wilson recorded 10 solo tackles including a sack in his attempt to galvanize this talented defense. Across from Chris Cole Jr., Wilson has established the best linebacker group in the entire conference and probably nation. Every single call, decision, and coverage runs through those two, and his ability to cover sideline to sideline stopping anyone with the football has allowed for this Georgia defense to continually see success.
115 – Byrum Brown Rushing Yards
This staggering number might be more shocking than the entire upset. Outside the pocket, Brown continually found success against this stingy Junkyard Dawg defense running the football. His legs actually ended up totaling more yards on the ground than the entire Georgia offense. Without his speed and toughness, the Tigers would not have been able to pull off the impossible in Athens.
