Entering the first conference matchup of the season, many fans of Dawg Nation were apprehensive to see this defense in a contest against a conference foe. The disparity between the two opponents on both sides; however, was evident from the opening snap as players like Raylen Wilson and Chris Cole Jr. pursued downhill contact while the Junkyard Dawgs’ defensive line ate blocks to free up the rest of their fear- striking front seven.

‌‌11- Straight SEC opening wins for Coach Kirby Smart

Outside of a first season where the Dawgs went 8-5, Coach Smart’s teams have been the kings of the east and now the kings of the SEC for the vast majority of the past decade. This dominance has to begin every season in the first conference game if the Dawgs want to continue their tradition of playing in Atlanta in December. This contest; however, left little to doubt about the outcome from the very beginning with a suffocating first half defensive performance in the box score along with timely offensive production to pad a formidable lead.

97- Gunner Stockton rushing yards

With limited action in the first two contests of the season, many fans seemed to forget a very important part of Stockton’s game: his legs. Whether through designed quarterback runs or broken scrambles on drop-backs, Stockton was able to evade pressure and extend drives with his leg to the tune of a near 100-yard performance. This ability will prove to be vital in later conference matchups.

‌2 – Raylen Wilson sacks

As one of the key leaders of this Junkyard Dawg defense, Wilson made his presence felt from the opening snap forcing pressure and contact in every possible way. Showing pass rushing flashes that made Dawg fans think back to linebackers like Nakobe Dean and Roquan Smith, Wilson made his bed in the backfield all afternoon.

‌3 – Chauncey Bowens touchdowns

Nestling into an important role in the Dawgs’ backfield, Bowens got downhill in a hurry Saturday finding his way to the endzone for a hat trick. His hard-nose rushing ability along with pass catching skills like a skilled receiver out of the backfield are turning him into one of Coach Bobo’s favorite options.

‌10,089 empty seats at kickoff

With attendance being a topic of conversation across the Razorback fanbase all week, the so-called boycott actually had a ripple effect with 10,089 tickets unsold or redeemed. This lackluster attendance carried over and was exacerbated by the domination ultimately emptying the stadium early.
