DAWG BONES OFFENSE – GEORGIA
JT Daniels is currently nursing a lat injury that caused him to miss Georgia’s win over Arkansas. The injury is considered week-to-week, so there is a chance he could also miss the game against Auburn. However, Stetson Bennett continues to impress, when needed at QB. Also, Georgia showed that they can be one of the most physical teams in the country if necessary, rushing for a season-high 273 yards against Arkansas. Auburn’s offense mostly relies on Bo Nix’s playmaking ability which will be limited against the speed of Georgia’s defense.
DAWG BONES DEFENSE – GEORGIA
Name a defensive category and you will see Georgia’s defense more than likely ranks first in it. The Dawgs’ defense is coming off back-to-back conference shutouts for the first time since 1980. They’ve given up the fewest points per game and yards per game in the country this season. Linebacker Nakobe Dean said it is all about playing to a standard, no matter what the score is. Even with all of the early success players like Travon Walker say there is still plenty of room for improvement.
DAWG BONES SPECIAL TEAMS – GEORGIA
Georgia kicker Jack Podlesny seems to have shaken off some of his early season woes. Podlesny made all three of his field goal attempts on Saturday against Arkansas. Jake Camarda continues to prove he is one of the best punters in the country. If he can effectively flip the field for Georgia’s defense that will set them up for success. Georgia also blocked a punt that resulted in a touchdown, proving that the Bulldogs can be one of the best special teams units in the country as well.
DAWG BONES COACHING – GEORGIA
Kirby Smart and his staff have consistently pushed their squad to improve each and every week. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken schemed the run game very well against Arkansas’ defense and could do the same against Auburn. Bryan Harsin will lead a ranked Auburn team at home, but the Tigers have not faced a team of Georgia’s caliber yet.
DAWG BONES OVERALL – GEORGIA
The Bulldogs are playing near-flawless football five games into the season. Jordan-Hare Stadium is one of the best atmospheres in college football and will certainly play in the Tigers favor. Georgia has been so effective in the first quarter this season, outscoring opponents 91-6 in the opening quarter this year. If they can take the crowd out of it, expect the Bulldogs to handle the Tigers.
