MMCSDAWG  Agree completely.  New coaches rarely inherit a champion, they build them.   That’s where Kirby is, and by going with Eason, he can tell new recruits that 2016 is a beginning, first step toward a championship.  If we do reall well this year, so much the better.

  2. MMCSDAWG

freddawg MMCSDAWG I agree, it is not going to be the paramount reason Eason starts, but I know there are a ton of people that will say otherwise, but I agree, it does take some of the pressure off Kirby and crew as well as prepare us better for the future.   I’m a Dawg Shine drinking Red Blood Dawgs, but unless somethings fall our way this year, which they definitely could, I wouldn’t be disappointed in not winning the SEC this year.  I just want to see a team the progresses throughout the season and not Regress!  And MOST of all I want to see a Mean, Angry, Hungry, and Focused team show up here in JAX this year!

  3. freddawg

MMCSDAWG  Yep, and I may be overthinking, but starting Eason takes a little pressure off of Kirby this season.  Everybody knows a freshman qb will make mistakes.  If Eason’s our best option, then it doesn’t reflect so badly on Smart if we don’t win the East.  Plus, it keeps hopes high for next season when we’ll have an experienced Eason running the offense.   Maybe a loser mentality on my part, but there’s some truth to it.

  4. MMCSDAWG

freddawg MMCSDAWG Exactly, it’s my belief that you play the QB that has the most talent and who gives you the best opportunity to win, not only game one but the entire season and I honestly believe that is Eason.  He’s going to make mistakes and we should all know and accept that he will.  But your right, there will be those that will tear him and kirby apart when and if we lose a close game with 3 turnovers.  Unless I just way off base, I believe he can maintain a 3 to 1 TD to interception ratio and if that’s the case, I don’t care if he throws 10 interceptions if he can throw 28-30 TD’s.  Sometimes an interception is NOT the worst thing in certain situations.  I would rather lose fighting like hell and going for broke than to watch another season of games like last year against Vandy, Mizz, GSU, and UF.   Let the kid make his mistakes and lets see him learn and grow from them.  Then at the end of the season when we need a 65 yd TD drive, we all sit back and watch this kid take our team on his back and put that ball in the end zone for a winning score!

  5. freddawg

MMCSDAWG  I’m excited to see what the kid can do too!  It’s a lot of pressure for him and I hope our fans are tolerant when he makes mistakes.  You know the media, even Georgia media, will start tearing him down.  But if Smart and Chaney think he’s the guy, then let ‘er rip.

dsw61  I’m skeptical about the reason for giving Eason first team reps every day this week.  Sounds like the starting job is his to lose.  You don’t take reps away from guys who look likely to be the starter.

  7. Michael Pope

Bulldawg Bob2 Michael Pope The main thing that stood out was how Coach Rocker was getting after the defensive lineman today. They would run through a drill 7 or 8 times maybe more simply because one guy messed up. Perfection was being demanded today. Kirby also got fired up a couple times today and got after a few guys as well.

  8. dsw61

Bulldawg Bob2 Think that’s the first time I’ve seen Eason tilt his shoulders on a short pass. I like it!!!

  9. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36 Maybe. He’s got 17 days from today; so, we will see. They are definitely being careful with him, but that is understandable.

  10. Bulldawg Bob2

I want to preface with a statement before you read any info on practice concerning who is running with the first team and who is getting reps, that the media (and that includes us here at BD Illustrated) only get to see the first 10 to 15 minutes of the warm-ups and drills of practice…..UPDATE: Change in reps coming for QBs – https://uga.rivals.com/news/change-in-reps-coming-for-qbs-

  11. Bulldawg Bob2

Michael Pope will probably confirm this but Mauger was still in his boot on his left foot while Woerner did not appear to have a boot anymore that he had been wearing the last couple of days on his right foot.

  12. freddawg

Bulldawg Bob2 lol, even a lightning warning report will do, Bob.  The final dawg days of summer have set in.  Every possible subject has been analyzed to death.  Tell Greg to make up a story if he has to.

  13. Bulldawg36

I’m a rabid and looney dawg fan!!! I’m not gonna change for anybody!!!!!!!!! This is me!! A die hard bulldawg fan!!! I bleed Red & black!!!! Get em dawgs!!!!

Hope Hawaii pulls off the upset!!! Yeah she lived in the Capitol of Australia. Can’t think of the city. She lived in an Italian neighbor hood!!

  15. freddawg

DawgByte  Team success stories from starting true freshman quarterbacks aren’t very common.

  16. DawgByte

AlphaDawg Greg Poole  “Smart said on 680 that he would prefer not to have start a freshman like Eason.
“In a perfect world, we should not be starting a freshman,” he said.”

    The mystery continues.

Have not been able to see the DB’s too much but it should be McGraw vs. Mo Smith for the Nickelback role. It should be an interesting battle. Georgia’s secondary is shaping up nicely as they have a lot of talent at all the positions.
