rugbydawg79 Bulldawg Bob2 freddawg MMCSDAWG  Correct. When there is a bone fracture and especially one that requires plates and screws (i.e. an internal fixation of the bone), the doctors involved  will compare x-rays from the time the bone is broken to the final or most recent set of x-rays to determine if the bone has remodeled enough to clear him for football.

He has probably getting x-rays at several time periods during his recovery process, which is why he has been allowed out of the hard protective cast and is using a lighter protective sleeve.

Bulldawg Bob2 freddawg MMCSDAWG seems I remember they said the final decision would be made after more x-rays reveal if the healing is complete at which point Ron has the call

I’m not throwing in the towel either. I just think Eason is our best bet for us to win the east and I want to give him as many starts as we can before we start playing that part of the schedule. A UNC loss will be soon forgotten if we are in the championship game. But I happen to think with our rb’s, we can win that one too…

The more I look at this photo I am wondering what happened next frame or two to Richester…. Did he flop all the way backwards. If this were a basketball game it looks like he was trying to take a charge

  5. Bulldawg Bob2

freddawg MMCSDAWG  His doctor definitely gave him a differential diagnosis of when he expected the repaired and fixated fractured arm to be healed enough to participate fully in football.

But the final clearance will come from the team doc, Ron Courson.

  6. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg Bob2 Good teammate right there, helping build team first concepts and bringing up a player that might be having some doubts about now!  I LIKE IT!

  7. RobDawg

You know those are now banned from High school games. I know when they first came out they got some great videos of the crowd and the run out pre game hysteria and halftime show but I understand not allowed anymore

MMCSDAWG Bulldawg Bob2 Chigbu’s the type that can make some db’s hesitate the second time around.  Physical receiver with great speed.   I looked it up a while back, think I remember that in his brief track career he ran about a 10.90 PR 100 meters.

  9. MMCSDAWG

rugbydawg79 I’m pretty sure we are going to give it our best shot!  kirby doesn’t seem like the kind to throw in the towel…  Why not us and Why not Now!  No way we throw away the season, but starting Eason is best IMO for not only this season, but our future as well!

  10. rugbydawg79

bahits Bulldawg Bob2 I bet Kirby has a guy with a Goose gun just waiting on one of those to show up

  11. rugbydawg79

keep in mind we probably will not have Nick and Sony next year, lets make something happen this year

  12. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg Bob2 I like me a lunch pail type WR and/or football player, just do whatever you need to get the job done and win ball games!

  13. freddawg

MMCSDAWG  Absolutely, our RB depth chart is our friend.   And I can say from firsthand knowledge, that orthopods DO NOT want to  peform a redo procedure where there’s hardware involved.  They’ll err on the safe side, IMO.

  14. MMCSDAWG

freddawg Bulldawg Bob2 I would think the same thing.  The only thing that leads me to believe he may still be looking at playing is he’s been getting reps with the #2’s.  But again, that is in the 15 minutes that get reported on.   I would really like him to sit out the first one or even two, maybe a could of carries against Nichols st.  just to knock off some rust, but save him for the SEC schedule!  UNC gave up almost 400 yds rushing to Duke.  I’m pretty sure we have at least 3-4 rb’s as good as they do and I know we will have a better OL.  So rest him is my vote!

Kirby should do what’s best long term here. He is going to get a pass this year. That seat won’t even begin to get warm til year two. As long as Easons phyche can handle the pressure, I say start him. Things will start to click soon if he is the qb we all think he is and he will be on his way. Not many people think this is our year anyway…well maybe BD36…. 🙂

Bulldawg Bob2 Bob, this is a pure guess on my part, but it’s possible that Sony’s surgeon gave them a hard date for when he can play.  I think I saw that he had hardware placed in his arm to fix those bones together.  There are probably so fairly well defined rules about how long it takes for that to all heal well enough for contact, possibly longer than week one.  I’m hopeful, but won’t be shocked if he doesn’t play until a couple games in.

  17. RobDawg

When they take that restriction off him he is going to ready to detonate someone. I feel for the first guy who squares up in front of him. Be it one of us or a Tarheel

  18. freddawg

DawgLink Agree.  I hope Pitman is doing the same.  We really need that OL to function as a unit.  If they do that, we have a lot of offensive talent that Chaney can deploy.
