KIRBY SMART (HC) – After two dominant wins against lower-stakes teams, scoring back-to-back over 60 points, Coach Kirby Smart is still not satisfied. With reserve players in for the fourth quarter against WKU, Smart said guys were getting sloppy when allowing them to get two scores. Smart is not letting up on his players just because of the opponent; he continuously expects them to be successful. This coaching mentality is going to carry the team throughout conference play and into their first road match at Arkansas on Saturday.
NATE FRAZIER (RB #3) – Nate Frazier had an excellent season opener against TSU with three touchdowns, but only had one against Western Kentucky. On six carries, Frazier gained 55 yards for the Dawgs. Every game, Frazier continues to display elite speed and power, which allows him to break through the opposing defense. Against Arkansas on Saturday, Frazier will prove himself as a top running back in the country if he continues this dominance.
GUNNER STOCKTON (QB #14) – Gunner Stockton showed out in his first two games of the Dawgs’ season. Stockton had at least an 80% completion rate, 200 passing yards, and three touchdowns between the two games. Despite these not being SEC and competitive opponents, Stockton has been generating Heisman-level potential. His passing accuracy and leadership skills have improved significantly from last season. Going into the first SEC matchup on the road will be the true test to whether these expectations can be upheld.
SACOVIE WHITE-HELTON (WR #0) – Sacovie White-Helton took advantage of his only reception of the game against Western Kentucky. He dashed this singular reception for a 70-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Coach Smart has been impressed with White-Helton’s ability to make plays and use his legs. “The catch by Sacovie using his hands and not his body was really big,” Smart said. “Then his burst to split the safeties and go make a play.”
JADEN REDELL (TE #23) – Jaden Redell made Georgia fans nostalgic for Brock Bowers in his breakout season opener against TSU. The tight end, who finally got some action behind more veteran players, took advantage of every second. In his touchdown drive in the season opener, Redell made the catch through contact and powered through to the end zone. He didn’t have a reception against WKU, but Redell and Elyiss Williams show Georgia’s depth and versatility in the tight end room.
PJ DEAN (DL #33) – PJ Dean and fellow defensive lineman generated extreme pressure and improved pass rush defense. They continuously applied pressure to the pocket for WKU quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr., forcing him to have a quick exit from the game. Dean, alongside linebacker Chris Cole, exhibited an elite Georgia defense that proved able to withstand the Arkansas offense this Saturday
ELIJAH LITTLEJOHN (LB #35) – True freshman Elijah Littlejohn has exhibited speed, power and agility during his first two debuts as a Bulldog. Against TSU, Littlejohn had three tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. In his second game against WKU, he totaled just one tackle, but was versatile across the line, going to linebacker, tackle and the slot. Littlejohn showed he can be trusted with more defensive snaps and gives Georgia another young option in its pass-rush rotation.
