Bulldogs To Watch in Jacksonville

Mike Bobo (OC) – Georgia’s offense has been clicking so far under Mike Bobo’s direction, and this rivalry is another test of his play-calling skill. In last year’s matchup, Bobo’s balanced attack kept Florida off-guard, producing explosive plays and long, grinding drives alike. Expect him to lean on quick rhythm throws and motion. With Gunner Stockton’s increase in confidence on the field, Bobo’s ability to scheme the first few drives will set the tone. The Gators have been challenged by tempo offenses and misdirection, and Bobo’s success will depend on how quickly the Bulldogs establish the run-pass balance and force Florida onto its heels.

Zachariah Branch (WR #1) – Fresh into this rivalry, Branch is in his first matchup against Florida, but has already made a name for himself as one of Georgia’s top wide-outs. His speed, ability to get vertical, and suddenness on screen plays give him a chance to make big plays. Florida’s secondary has proved inconsistent in man coverage, and Branch’s quick-release routes and stop-and-go ability could create early separation. Expect Branch to test Florida’s angles and get comfortable in the spotlight of a rivalry game.

Oscar Delp (TE #4) – Delp is no stranger to this rivalry and brings a polished presence to Georgia’s passing game. With defenders often keyed on the wideouts, Delp’s role as a reliable chain-mover and red-zone threat becomes more important. He brings a balanced skill set to the field–physical enough to block, fluid enough to make plays downfield. Florida’s linebackers and safeties have shown vulnerabilities when tight ends exploit zone drops, and Georgia should look to Delp in those spaces.

Nate Frazier (RB #3) – Frazier continues to build momentum for Georgia. Not only is Frazier coming off a three-yard score against Ole Miss, but he’s already proven he can strike against Florida with a touchdown in last year’s matchup. In a rivalry that often comes down to who wins the trenches, expect Frazier to be heavily featured and wear down the Gators’ defense early.

Chris Cole (ILB #9) – On defense, Cole’s athleticism and sideline-to-sideline speed make him a key piece in slowing Florida’s dual-threat elements and screen game. While still young, he’s earned snaps and shown his ability to read flow and attack space. In rivalry games, missed assignments become momentum swings, and Cole will be tested on third-down conversions. If he can maintain discipline on the open field, he’ll be a difference-maker for sure.

Christen Miller (DL #52) – Miller’s return from a lower-body injury in the Ole Miss game is timely for Georgia. His interior push and ability to collapse pockets from the inside help free up the linebackers and disrupt run-blocking schemes. Florida’s offensive line has had moments of struggle, and Miller’s presence can add a physical edge. If he shows full strength, expect him to be a force in the trenches and help set the physical tone for the Bulldogs’ defense.

Brett Thorson (P #92) – In rivalry games like this, field position often determines momentum. Thorson’s accuracy and ability to pin opponents deep give Georgia a special-teams advantage. Should Georgia stall in the red zone or if early drives falter, Thorson’s ability to flip the field becomes even more critical. A well-placed punt could make the difference between Florida starting with short fields and Georgia forcing longer drives–and those longer drives favor the Bulldogs’ front seven.

Herschel Walker had three incredible games against Florida from 1980 through 1982, running for 238, 192 and 219 yards, while compiling eight touchdowns (two through the air in ‘81).

When Georgia defeated Florida 10-9 in 1983, Darryl Jones intercepted a pass on the one yard line, and then John Lastinger directed an epic 99-yard touchdown run to give the Dogs the lead.

Jake Fromm was the quarterback for Georgia from 2017 through 2019, and was under center for three victories over the Gators, highlighted by a three TD performance in 2018.
