WBB: Lady Bulldogs Down North Carolina A&T

In front of over 4,000 children from local elementary schools, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs pull away during the second quarter to defeat the North Carolina A&T Aggies, 77-49, on Monday afternoon at Stegeman Coliseum. 

 

 

 

 

Fast Facts

  • This is the 10th time in program history the Lady Bulldogs have started a season 11-0, and the first occasion since 2014.
  • Sophomore guard Dani Carnegie recorded her first double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. It marks her fifth game this season with 20 points or more and the best rebounding contest of her career. 
  • Georgia held North Carolina A&T to 31 percent shooting – the 10th time in 11 games the Lady Bulldogs have held an opponent below 40 percent. 
  • Georgia has held six opponents below 50 points this season. 
  • Georgia scored 26 points off 20 NC A&T turnovers.
  • Junior guard Rylie Theuerkauf tied a career high with five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. She hit 5-of-6 from behind the arc. 
  • Freshman forward Zhen Craft finished just shy of a double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds. She also set a career high with four blocks. 
  • The annual school game drew more than 4,000 elementary school students to Stegeman Coliseum this morning.

  • The Georgia Lady Bulldogs will head up for a road trip to Richmond, Virginia for the 4 Tha Culture Holiday Classic. Fans will be able to stream all games on ESPN+ on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 21 at 12:00 p.m.

MBB: Dawgs Are Ranked in the Top 25

The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked No. 25 in this week’s Associated Press poll, which was released on Monday. Among the teams receiving votes in the USA Today coaches poll, the Bulldogs are No. 26 this week.

Georgia last appeared in the AP poll last season on Jan. 13 when the Bulldogs were No. 23 in both the AP and coaches polls. This is the first time Georgia has been ranked in the AP poll in consecutive seasons since the 2001-02 and 2002-03 campaigns.

Georgia is 9-1 on the season and currently leads all 365 Division I programs in four statistical categories – scoring offense (98.3 ppg), scoring margin (+27.7 ppg), fastbreak scoring (27.6 ppg) and blocks (8.5 ppg). According to the metric Barttorvik.com, the “Dunkyard Dawgs” are also the nation’s top team in percentage of field goals that are dunks at 22.4 percent.

The Bulldogs feature one of the nation’s deepest rosters playing at one of the fastest paces in college basketball. Georgia is the only Power Conference team with an 11-player rotation, with every player averaging at least 10 minutes and seeing action in every game. According to kenpom.com, the Bulldogs have the nation’s third-quickest average offensive possession (14.2 seconds) and fifth-fastest adjusted tempo (74.8 possessions per 40 minutes).

Georgia opens a four-game homestand against Western Carolina on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The Bulldogs also will face West Georgia on Dec. 22 at 2:00 p.m.; LIU on Dec. 29 at 7:00 p.m.; and Auburn in the SEC opener on Jan. 3 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets for all of Georgia’s remaining home games are available here.
