Key Quotes
Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On having depth and the early part of the schedule with already playing 19 games…
“I think it puts a lot of pressure on the other team. We can do some different things when they try to match up with our hitters, and we can do some different things when they try to match up with our pitchers. It’s good to see the guys have to persevere with our schedule, it’s like 19 games in 20-something days. After that first inning, it is easy to just coast, and I thought we threw the ball well today, minus the one inning.’”
On Tyler McLoughlin
“He’s another guy who is going to throw a lot for us. “It’ll be really surprising for me if we have a guy go seven, eight innings in a game in league play. We’ll do a lot of matching up, and you see what Tyler and Matthew (Hoskins) did today. We know Brian Curley can go multiple innings. Tyler is working himself into a lot of innings with us.”
Nolan McCarthy | Gr. | OF
On pre-conference play
“You really figure out who your guys are, and we have a lot of depth, so you have to get a lot of guys in early in the season. Then when SEC play comes around, it’s a normal game for us. It’s been a lot the past four weeks, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
On the team’s depth
“It’s awesome because even Ryland Zaborowski was in the eight-hole yesterday, and it doesn’t matter wherever you are in the lineup, you can put it out of the ballpark. We don’t just have nine good hitters, we have 15,16,17, 18 good hitters. Everyone we could put in can produce at this level. It’s just really impressive.”

SB: Tennessee Takes Opening SEC Series with Sunday Win

- Tyler Ellison continued her hot hitting, scattering two of Georgia’s five hits on the afternoon. Her RBI double in the first put Georgia on the board.
- Georgia used back-to-back walks and a single from three pinch hitters in the bottom of the seventh to load the bases with no out. KEY QUOTE
Head coach Tony Baldwin
“I thought we came out of the box really well, and I thought we were in a good spot. I thought Lilli [Backes] was competing. I thought we had a good plan that we were executing in the batter’s box. Then, in the middle innings, we just kind of got away from it. I think we lost a little bit of the momentum, and they capitalized in the inning there. That was the name of the game. I’m proud of the way we responded at the end and put some pressure on them. At the end of the day, in this league, you have to play all seven innings. You have to stick to a game plan. You have to execute, or you get beat. That’s what happened today. We didn’t execute a game plan quite well enough. We’ll get back to work on Tuesday and be ready for Georgia Southern on Wednesday.”
