Georgia Head Coach Tony Baldwin
Opening statement…
“Congrats to Florida. I thought they played a really good game today. I thought Keagan [Rothrock] was really sharp. It’s no secret that when she’s on her A-game, she’s one of the best ones in the country, she has been for a minute, and I thought she really commanded the ball today, she worked both sides of the plate, and gave us some trouble getting on time. I thought we competed in the batter’s box. Ultimately, as the game went on, we put together some better at-bats, but just not quite enough. I thought we got off to a tough start. To beat Florida, you have to command the strike zone, and you’ve got to make them have to become more aggressive with their at-bats, and we were unable to do that in two innings. When we were able to control the strike zone, I thought we challenged their hitters pretty well; we just didn’t do it well enough today. I think it was nine free passes. … It’s certainly not the right recipe for success. We’ll have to command that a little bit better tomorrow, but it’s the first one to two [games], and they don’t get to start with a five-run lead tomorrow, so we’ll go back and pick ourselves up and be ready to go tomorrow. One of the things that has been kind of a hallmark of this team is our resilience and our ability to bounce back. This isn’t the first time we’ve lost game one, and ultimately, in the SEC, we were pretty good in game two, so we’re going to have to rely on that tomorrow and see if we can force it to another game.”
Senior outfielder Dallis Goodnight
On Friday’s game…
“Florida’s a good team, we knew that coming into this game, we never slight them at all. We just have to be better on our end and control what we can control and try and play better against them tomorrow.”
On bouncing back on Saturday…
“We have done it in the past, so we know we can do it, so we just have to go out and do it. This team is very resilient. We know that. We’ve done it. We just have to trust it and bounce back tomorrow, and just compete as best as we can to get a win tomorrow.”
