MBB: Dawgs Down Troy in Exhibition

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated Troy, 81-65, in a preseason exhibition at Stegman Coliseum on Sunday. Sophomore Kanon Catchings led the Bulldogs with 15 points.

 

 

 

 

FAST FACTS

• Catchings led the Bulldogs with eight rebounds, with Dylan James following closely behind with six. 

• Four Bulldogs reached double figures in the scoring column. Following Catchings were Jeremiah Wilkinson with 13 points, Justin Bailey, and Blue Cain, both with 11. 

 

 

 

 

• The Bulldogs scored 40 points in the paint and 28 points from the bench. 

• Georgia led 40-22 at halftime. Troy trimmed that margin to 47-41 before the Bulldogs answered with a 19-4 surge to regain control.

• Georgia had the biggest lead of the day with 23 points in the second half compared to Troy’s two points in the first.

On Kanon Catching’s performance during exhibition games…

“That’s what you see every day with Kanon. He’s a developing player on the glass, a playmaker for others, and a defender. He’s blocking shots and impacting the game positively in ways other than making jump shots and attacking the rim. I would put it in that category as well, drawing fouls and putting pressure on the paint. He’s a really gifted, effortless shot-maker. He can rise up above you and shoot it as if it’s not contested because he’s 6’9″, plus he’s got a really high, quick release.”
