How sweet it was this past weekend in Athens as the Bulldog Nation, the Georgia players and Kirby Smart and his staff all came together to do exactly what our cover asked for in last week’s issue … Bulldog Bevo!
Georgia 35, Texas 10 …
I don’t know about you, but in my opinion, the Georgia-Texas game was like a massive wedding. There were days and days of activities that you simply didn’t want to miss. And then, thankfully for everyone who loves the Red and Black, the grand finale (the game itself) was epic.
The scene inside Sanford Stadium before kickoff was legendary. Our fans had the stadium completely full almost 45 minutes before kickoff. And who will ever forget the special treat of hearing Athens’ Widespread Panic’s frontman, John Bell (pictured left), singing the national anthem. It was such a soulfully, sweet rendition of the “Star Sprangled Banner.” Way to go JB … you are the man and a Damn, Good Dawg!
Then the fun really began as our Dawgs systematically whipped Texas. I definitely encourage you to read Greg Poole’s Old & In The Way column on page 22 as he explains how this 2025 team is only getting better every week.
What a win and weekend!
Now, we turn the page and what better way to do so than the final home game in Sanford Stadium, which is always Senior Day. On page 10, Jeff Dantzler delves into the massive contribution of these seniors. My goodness, what a run!
And after the surprise onsides kick in the fourth quarter versus Texas, Cash Jones celebrating with is his teammates was an absolute must for this issue’s cover. What a warrior Cash Jones has been for Georgia. So like what our cover says, join me in saying ‘Our SENIORS are CA$H MONEY!’ As the old saying goes, there’s nothing like cold hard cash and that’s exactly what this group of seniors has been for the Georgia football program.
Thank you, Thank you … Thank you!
Enjoy this issue of BI that will get you ready for the Charlotte game. Both our sports and social sections are loaded with fun content. And beyond Saturday’s game in Athens, I encourage folks not to forget that this week’s PGA Tour event will be happening at Sea Island Golf Club with the playing of the RSM Classic. Can you say, the ultimate double dip for the win … Go Dawgs!!
