Head coach Drake Bernstein has his women’s tennis team rolling through the tournament thus far. With three straight 4-0 wins over Florida A&M, Georgia Tech and Cal, the Lady Bulldogs have hardware on their minds. Georgia is the No. 1 overall seed and battles No. 8 Duke in Waco, Texas for a quarterfinals matchup on Thursday!

The Bulldogs made quick work of all opponents faced in the NCAA Tournament to this point thanks to dominance in doubles and consistency in singles. With Georgia’s wins over the Rattlers, Yellow Jackets and Golden Bears, the Dawgs secured their 99th, 100th and 101st wins in program tournament history. The win over Florida A&M marks a 25-year streak in which Georgia has advanced past the regional first round.

Hailing from Prague, Czech Republic, senior Dasha Vidmanova leads this Dawg squad as No. 1 singles to a hopeful eighth national title. Vidmanova is the No. 2 player in the nation just 0.16 points behind Texas A&M’s Mary Stoiana. On the year, Vidmanova is 1-2 vs. Stoiana, winning her only match against the common foe in the national team indoors championship in February.

Another senior Mell Reasco stands next to Vidmanova in doubles as the two are the No. 1 doubles team in the nation. With a potential three matches left, the duo’s steadiness is a must if the NCAA trophy is to be brought back to Athens.

Anastasiia Lopata and Aysegul Mert are the other two Dawgs in the top 50 of singles as No. 17 and No. 42, respectively. Lopata holds a 16-1 record in singles matches while Mert has a well-polished 27-7 record. Mert partners Guillermina Grant in doubles for a No. 29 doubles ranking and 8-3 record.

Bernstein is in his second year as head coach with an esteemed resume at the helm in his short tenure. The Bernstein led Bulldogs claimed the indoor national title earlier this season, defeating current No. 9 Auburn, No. 7 Virginia and No. 2 Texas A&M en route to the indoor title. Georgia then claimed the SEC regular season and tournament titles after claiming the tournament title in 2024 as well.

With a win on Thursday, Georgia will face the winner of No. 5 North Carolina and No. 13 LSU. The Tar Heels are one of the Bulldogs’ three losses whereas Georgia defeated the Tigers 4-2 in the regular season. Good luck, ladies!
