Bulldawg36 I am not happy with those agencies that are saying “apparent suicide”.  The man was 86 years old.  Give his legacy a break and leave that out whether it was or wasn’t.

    jmho – RIP Zippy

  2. lagadawg

When I moved from Ga. to La. to get a new license all I had to do was bring my birth certificate and take the eye test.

  3. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  You could call them. The DMV has a toll free number. Call them up tomorrow during business hours and just ask.

  4. Bulldawg36

All of read is you only have to take the vision test if you are transferring a out of state- not the written. Maybe you used too some years ago. Maybe Briscoe failed the vision test

  5. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG  well that right there makes her an Honorary Southerner

  6. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG Bulldawg Bob2  Hahaha. Yep. She was wearing shorts in December.

She has learned to make a mean good pitcher of sweet tea and knows how to a good chicken fried steak with gravy.

  7. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Bulldawg Bob2 Hobnailboot aka RobG I bet she can wear short sleeves year round, those Canadians are tough when it comes to the cold

  8. Bulldawg36

So that means I have to take the written test again if I move there? Gawd!!!!! I looked it up on the Georgia DMV website and all it said was you had to take the vision test if you transfer a DL from out of state!

  9. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG  She’s acclimated well though lol. She is originally from and grew up in Toronto, Canada.

  10. Bulldawg Bob2

CLTDawg AlphaDawg  Ramsey was much improved in my eyes, but I think the coaches want him to take more of a leadership role from what we have heard Coach Smart say.

  11. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  If you are from out-of-state and already have a valid driver’s license from that state, then, to my knowledge, to get a GA DL  a person just has to take the written portion.

If you don’t have a valid DL or have let it lapse, then you have to take both the road and written test.

The AJC article states he has a valid Maryland DL, but I have read another article that stated he didn’t have one at all. However, Briscoe told the officer that he failed the test to get a GA DL, which I assume is the written one, and had not bothered and was to busy to go retest. He never told the officer that he had a valid Maryland DL and as Brooklyn previously stated, it appears that the officer didn’t ask if he had a valid out-of-state license or check to see if he did.

As they say, this seems to be a breakdown of communication and/or procedure.

  12. CLTDawg

AlphaDawg Everyone’s really overlooking that Ramsey had numbers similar to Eason’s at GDay, despite going against the first and second team defense rather than the second and third, and despite throwing it fewer times. Yes, Eason was impressive, but so was Ramsey.

  13. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie Brooklyndawg MMCSDAWG LOL. She is not a country gal. Sweet girl, but definitely from the C-I-T-Y.

  14. Bulldawg36

He said he failed some test. I thought if you moved to GA..you only had to take the vision test not the road rules again

  15. Reddawg13

Brooklyndawg Reddawg13 AlphaDawg Well we don’t have YOLOS but we have and always will have “I told you sos!” lol

  16. Reddawg13

Bulldawg Bob2 Reddawg13 MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg well yeah, but in front of 93k plus with very high expectations he didn’t disappoint. He is by far our best chance at winning and winning big.

  17. Brooklyndawg

Bulldawg36 Re-read the article, it states that he DID have a valid Md license. Why he didn’t prodiuce that for the officer is a question, and I don’t think the officer could rummage through his wallet with out due cause and a search warrant.

  18. Brooklyndawg

Reddawg13 AlphaDawg GAWD-D I wish we still had YOLOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your A’s would be grass

  19. Bulldawg36

So did Briscoe have a Maryland DL or not? The Ajc is saying he didn’t have a DL in any state. Why would he have to take the DL test if he already had one no matter the state he is from.

  20. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie Brooklyndawg MMCSDAWG  she definitely ain’t a country girl then, the girls I grew up around could drive just as good as the guys, some better

  21. RumRunnerDoogie

Brooklyndawg Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack Reddawg13 idk about the laws in GA but its odd that u would have to have a ga DL to be able to drive, granted i understand apparently the cop thought he was a resident

  22. Brooklyndawg

Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack Al that aside, which is irrelevant to the young man now having to deal with this, the arresting officer bears the responsibility to ask leading questions that the person being questioned may freeze up on volunteering. i took the Athens-Clark County multi- month civilians police training course, and thats one the the points that was stressed. You don’t have to be one of their detectives to ask a couple of pertinent questions. I thinking this case the police department owes mr Briscoe an apology, but that’s just my opinion. Any of you who live in this county would do yourselves great favors by taking that great course.

  23. Brooklyndawg

Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack Reddawg13 Well, not being in law enforcement, i can speak with ignorance. Do departmental procedures prohibit you from asking if you have a valid license from any state, especially once the officer learned that Briscoe is a transient student-athlete???

  24. Brooklyndawg

1mandawgpack Bulldawg Bob2 Reddawg13 Totally agree, and if the officer had asked that simple question, all of this would have been avoided. The kid was probably shaken up and who of us always thinks 100% clearly when you see the flashing lights in your rear view mirror?

  25. MMCSDAWG

    Bulldawg Bob2 Reddawg13 MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg

Believe me, I agree, I don’t have expectations of NC’s or anything next season with Eason at the helm, but if we want to win against UTk or Ole Miss, I don’t believe there is another QB on the team that could win those games other than Eason if we need to get 30+ points on the board.  We will definitely see some inconsistent play, but tell me what we got last season?  WE got a QB that set a new NCAA record followed the next week by the same person looking like a complete deer in the headlights against Alabama.  So I say go with the QB that has the most talent and potential, we all know who that is.

  26. 1mandawgpack

Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack Reddawg13  While you’re entitled to your opinion, I don’t think it would have been unreasonable for the officer to ask if Briscoe had a valid DL in any state when Briscoe informed him that he didn’t have a Georgia DL.  Briscoe is a young man of legal driving age and was in a car registered to someone in his family (as the AJC said it was Briscoe’s car) so I don’t think that the officer did all that he reasonably could have done to not arrest him.  At a minimum, it doesn’t appear that he went out of his way to discover the truth.

  27. Bulldawg Bob2

Reddawg13 MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg  Eason made some mistakes. He held onto the ball too long on a few occasion and would have been sacked 3 or 4 times if it had been a real game. He threw the ball into coverage a couple of times that was questionable, but all-in-all, he looked good out there.

Thing with Eason, as a freshman, he might play lights out one game and then have a bad game the next. I remember watching Zier and Stafford do that as freshmen and sometimes it would be in a game from one offensive series to another. On one series they would look like Heisman candidates and on another, fans were screaming to bench them lol.

  28. Reddawg13

MMCSDAWG Reddawg13 AlphaDawg well the mistake I saw in the G game was by Lambert, the supposed game manager.

  29. Bulldawg Bob2

1mandawgpack Bulldawg Bob2 Agree. Big media and even some  small-time media outlets are so focused on getting the story out first before they have all the facts.

  30. Reddawg13

1mandawgpack Reddawg13 I have a friend who works for GSP and he tells his peers, “guys you better treat the public with respect and help them all you can, you may be on trial one day and have them in the jury”. Smart man.

  31. 1mandawgpack

Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack  He only had a UGA ID on his person, but he has a valid Maryland drivers license as confirmed by the university  The AJC article states that a UGA spokesman said Briscoe “didn’t indicate to the officer whether or not he had a Maryland license. If he had told the officer he had a Maryland license, a computer search would have been done and found it.”  I also think another part of the problem we have in our society is the media printing information before they have the full story and I actually applaud the AJC in this instance for doing some fact finding and reporting the truth involving the incident.

  32. Bulldawg Bob2

1mandawgpack Reddawg13  I think it is hard to judge the arresting officer because we weren’t there 1mandawgpack.

I could be wrong. I don’t think the officer was looking for a reason to arrest him at all. I think he followed whatever his departmental procedures where according to the law in this case.

And that may be where the issue lies in the law and departmental procedures.

  33. MMCSDAWG

Reddawg13 AlphaDawg That was my prediction…  Ramsey is the wildcard, but i believe Eason is our starter by the end of the UNC game and we will ride that bucking horse the remainder of the season.  He is going to make some mistakes, but he is also going to make some plays we haven’t seen around here in a while!  I for once agree with PAWWWW…  UGA will not win the SECe with anyone other than Eason at the helm!
