Correct. Jason Butt is a beat writer for the Macon Telegraph. We have had him on the podcast before, a couple of times during last season’s episodes.

  2. Bulldawg Bob2

Think the rating is based on the unknown quantity of the untested freshman and sophomores that compose the majority of the d-line.
I’m more curious where the line ranks 6 games into the season and then at the end of the season.

  3. Bulldawg Bob2

dsw61 Man. Hate hear that for that young man. That pretty much kills his senior season at GAC. That is a big blow for that team as well.

  4. godawgs678

You know what makes me happy? Knowing that when Paul Johnson leaves GT, they will have an offense full of undersized lineman who don’t know how to pass block, QB’s who can’t throw the ball downfield, and WR’s who only know how to run 4 or 5 routes. It’s gonna be fun to watch.

  5. Bulldawg Bob2

skidawaydawg  Are you sure it is a BI ad? To my knowledge, we don’t advertise GT tickets, fan memorabilia or items. It is probably a pop-up ad separate from BI.

  6. Bulldawg Bob2

revtizzy To be honest. I cannot remember, but I don’t think the team went only if the weather was bad. It was just a tradition he had with the team.
I don’t find anything wrong with it, but it can be a gamble that a team would lose more than that 1 day of practice when you have a finite number to work with.

  7. RobDawg

Nothing positive for a Dawg fan will come from watching that game. Don’t put yourself through it. Seriously

  8. Bansai buckeroo

I have never watched it. I was out of country last year. I’m recording it now but not sure I can bring myself to watch it still. Come to think of it I will be in Europe this year when they play. Hoping for a different result…

  9. Bulldawg Bob2

Avon Barksdale LOL. He would be allowed to play but I think he would be getting a lot of flags under the current rules

  10. revtizzy

Bulldawg Bob2 Isn’t that often when they went to Ramsey, when weather was expected to be bad or even really, really hot?  Or am I mis-remembering.

  11. Avon Barksdale

Would Thomas Davis even be allowed to play in today’s NCAA? That guy was an absolute terror!

  12. Bulldawg Bob2

I think a lot of fans didn’t realize that the pool day at the Ramsey Center counted as a practice.
Nothing wrong with it of course. It was fun, gave the players a break, and you could argue was a team building exercise.
However, teams only have 29 practices. If practice is started, and bad weather causes it to be cut short, it still counts as a practice whether it was 5 to 10 minutes or a couple of hours.

  13. RobDawg

Malik had to go ahead and commit if Fromm threw for 300 or more, but I don’t remember what Fromm had at risk

  14. Bulldawg36

Would rather have all my teeth pulled and drink a nice cold can of Clorox than watch that game again

  15. JaxDawg

Yes!!! It felt like I was in a final exam for a class in my dream I was unprepared for that lasted a bazillion hours and left me with more questions about life than I had going in!!!!

  16. RobDawg

Watch out for the young QB at South Forsyth in the game vs Hill Grove 8/19 at 8:30. I was very very impressed with him last year against our HS team and then in playoffs vs Colquitt. He is already committed to W Kentucky I think but his stock could rise

  17. Bulldawg Bob2

RobDawg  Aye. Coach Smart already had the team on the lake Sunday July 31st before the first day of practice.

  19. RobDawg

They already did the swim/dive thing this year at Miami. Richt will keep doing his thing and Kirby will start his own things

  20. Bulldawg Bob2

Avon Barksdale  Thomas Davis and Alec Ogletree would like to have a word with you there 🙂

  21. Avon Barksdale

I wonder if the philosophy ‘switch’ on inside linebackers is less about scheme than just dealing with no huddle teams? (A 225 pound LB likely wouldn’t struggle as much against the run as a 250 pound LB may on 3rd down against the pass)…

  22. RobDawg

Thanks that was a great 7 minutes to be able to listen and chill while reading the posts. The Doors were awesome

  23. RobDawg

That was cool to hear Rocker give a small but important critique about keeping head and eyes up after shedding blocker and ALL of them did it right next drill. Can’t wait!

  24. Greg Poole

bahits Sure you can, you can see a skillful coach using the media to motivate his players

  25. bahits

Greg Poole Knowing who and when to praise or critic is the art of leadership.   At that point, I don’t think we can read anything out of his praise or criticism.

  26. Bulldawg Bob2

Refresh page and some of the Tweets along with the audio from Kirby’s presser up top. Most recent podcasts and interviews on SoundCloud playlist have been updated.
Also, new pictures from Monday’s and Tuesday’s practice are in the Fall Camp Gallery if you would like to take a look at those.
Greg Poole will have a photo gallery from today’s practice up tomorrow as well.

  27. Greg Poole

AJC guy asks about going swimming at Ramsey – Kirby looks at him like he has 3 heads – predicted headline”Smart Drowns Another Richt Tradition”

  28. Greg Poole

Kirby is not giving ANYBODY praise unless they really impress him – dogging Godwin today.

  29. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  Gaillard is a redshirt sophomore, I expected to him to be competing this year for a start. At the very least I thought he would be high on the depth chart as the no.2 guard behind either of the starting guards.

  30. Avon Barksdale

Barnett too. I feel pretty good about those three sophomores. Sounds like Carter is ready to go too! Free Rochester!

  31. Bulldawg Bob2

bahits Bulldawg Bob2  He was at practice on a stationary bike next to Mauger. Pic down below. I think they will both be ready to go by UNC.

  32. rugbydawg79

bahits Bulldawg Bob2 with you bahits — the kid is still only 17 years old — i believe his birthday is the end of this month

  33. Bulldawg36

I guess it boils down to one of issues that a first year coach is left with from the previous coaching staff. A few suspensions and injuries to one position group. Then you scrambling to make things work for a big opener.

  34. bahits

Bulldawg Bob2 If he is on him, then I bet Ben is doing great, but Kirb and Pittman see much more potential.  If Cleveland isn’t a dominator a couple games into next season, then something is wrong with the orbit of the earth.

  35. bahits

Bulldawg Bob2 There is just something different about Chubb.  Looking at his expression, do you ever imagine that he is always looking for a way to either run around or through anyone in his path?

If you are interviewing him, you better be on guard.

  36. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  I wouldn’t say there is no depth on the d-line, but just that, as you put it, the guys there are all young and inexperienced. A lot of freshmen d-linemen will be playing vs UNC.

  37. Bulldawg36

The DL depth is scarse! Could Arkins miss the game? That would leave us. With Hawkins. Thompson. Carter. Marshall. Clark. That’s a very young & inexperienced DL. I’m certainly worried about the unc game. Gonna be a rough one. I forgot one Rochester..but we don’t really know his status for the game either. The unc game does matter a lot. My mother always said if you can win in the dome in September then you can win there In December as well. Well she never said that, but y’all get my point.

  38. Bulldawg Bob2

RB Sony Michel goes through ball security drills during Tuesday’s practice. Notice he still has a light protective wrap/sleeve on his left forearm that he broke over the summer, but not the heavy protective cast he was wearing to start fall camp. Notice, he is also still in a black no-contact jersey.

  39. Bulldawg Bob2

Safety Quincy Mauger in good spirits with a smile despite dealing with a foot/ankle injury

  40. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36 While it would suck to lose the first game of the season to UNC in the GA Dome, it would not make or break the season. There would still be 11 games to be played in the regular season and all of the conference games.

  41. ed603

Bleudawg freddawg Bulldawg36  I agree, Bd. I think Lambert will start, but wouldn’t it be a hoot if Evil Kirby surprised everyone and started the new QB from Alabama, he throws for 3 TDs, and runs for 2 more! CKS is hailed as a genious, and we go on to win the East…oh wait…I just woke up…

  42. Bulldawg Bob2

Avon Barksdale  Don’t forget Douglas. I’ve heard he has been knocking people in the mouth  in practice. I know there are 18 days to go, and I don’t want to jinx it, but I’m happy with the health of the RBs right now looking ahead to UNC.

  43. Avon Barksdale

I just have a feeling we are going to line up Chubb, Holyfield, and hopefully Sony behind two tight ends and just dare those ACC pansies to try and stop us!

  44. Bulldawg Bob2

No.80 Quincy Mauger and No.89 Charlie Woerner on bikes still nursing foot/ankle injuries.

  45. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie freddawg This is true Rummy. Would like to see him in one game though before the Mizzou contest on the road, even if it was for limited playing time.

  46. ed603

MMCSDAWG Bansai buckeroo  I see your everything, and raise you another everything on Lambert!

  47. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 freddawg in the grand scheme the first 2 weeks mean nothing, need akins healthy for sec ball

  48. Bulldawg Bob2

freddawg  I am sure they are. We have heard some good reports on the freshmen d-linemen. I don’t think it is anything serious, but they are being careful with Atkins for sure. I think right now, I’d put him down as questionable for the UNC game, but that is still 18 days off.

  49. freddawg

I hope those freshman defensive tackles are busting their butts.  Somebody’s gonna get early PT.

  50. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulk of the weather is west of Athens headed for us up here in Hall County, but there is a storm smack dab right over Athens at the moment:

  51. AlphaDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 AlphaDawg Bansai buckeroo haha just kidding. My wife is pretty damn fine. 5’9 blonde and hits the gym with me every day. Legs for days my friends

  52. AlphaDawg

Colonial Dawg Bulldawg36 Haha sounds like me. I told my wife I would pay an extra night at so we wouldn’t be flying on Saturday. Earliest flight back had us landing in ATL at like 8PM. NOPE! So now I’m watching on the beach! 🙂

  53. Colonial Dawg

Bulldawg36 I got it covered!  My wife got us the earliest flight out of Richmond so that we can be in Seattle by noon their time.  We are spending the night at a hotel at the airport so I should be comfortably in my room in time for kickoff.  Even if we run a little late, which of course might happen, I have some built in time and still should make it.  She’s a good wife, she takes care of me!

And if they won’t let us check in early, well I’ll just go to the bar and watch it.

  54. Bansai buckeroo

That kind of astute analysis is mind boggling…how did he ever come up with it..###…haha

Bansai buckeroo That and being able to tolerate those inbred Gumps…  It’s sure not because of his looks!  ##

  56. AlphaDawg

BahitsAgain Greg Poole We got hit but it was coming from the south going north so I don’t think Athens is getting ours

  57. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg Bob2 If there was ever anyone born to be a spike squad member, it is Bulldawg36.  Alas, this year the new generation of mad Dawg he is bringing into the world will likely keep him from it, but next year….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 Bulldawg36 He should have said something as a Freshman, it’s too late now, no disrespect, but you know old dawgs and new tricks!

  59. rugbydawg79

RumRunnerDoogie tmdawg12 Samaritan’s Purse has 2 units on the way -it will be a long deployment — floods are the worst.

  60. WillieWalden

I agree.. To get Lawrence I think Eason has to play early… I don’t see Lawrence going to a school to sit three years and I believe Fromm will entrench himself in that position following Eason … If they’re really that equal right now I go with the person with the most upside.. I’m of the belief that you learn when the bullets are flying … Scale back the checking at the line … Don’t think we need to do all of that to beat Carolina anyway… Just my humble opinion.. I trust the coaches and will cheer for any of the qbs just as hard

  61. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Colonial Dawg Bansai buckeroo  I don’t want to scare “listeners” away with seeing my ginger locks.

  62. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 Bulldawg36 hahahahaha. No kidding. I went the whole dang show and then was like dag nab it! I’ve pronounced Mauger’s name wrong the whole freaking time!

DawgByte TtownDawg lagadawg What if our defense isn’t quite as stout as we would like and we are giving up points to UNC?  One of the reasons I’ve stuck with my prediction of Eason, is I believe there is a decent chance that we might need 38+ points to win this game against UNC.  They were able to score on most everyone even Clemson!

  64. Bansai buckeroo

@Bleu… Guess it could be my iPad… Clear my cache everyday. Anyway it is what it is….

  65. Bulldawg36

Galloway picks lsu to win the sec. Pollack picks bummer. Kannel picks the dawgs to win the sec baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  66. Greg Poole

Time to head over to B-M and wait for the bus. Photos here and Kirby on SoundClound later.

  67. Bleudawg

Bansai buckeroo Bansai I have an ipad and until ecdawg brought lyvewire back I simply gave up. that other thing just would not work (for me). If you keep you cache clean it does ok.

  68. Bansai buckeroo

Not sure I can tell a lot of difference, Red. Livefyre doesn’t seem to care for iPads either.

  69. Bleudawg

Greg Poole Bleudawg Man I m so excited im tinkling kool aid again…its embarrassing, trust me

  70. Bulldawg Bob2

freddawg  He’s a true freshman, I expect him to redshirt unless there are injuries are he is better as a true freshman than the redshirt freshmen,  sophomores and juniors currently on the roster.

But aye. He is an impressive big man. I think he is a future starter on Georgia’s o-line

freddawg Very Raw but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear his name in the 2 deep by next year.   He played at a decent team here in Jax, but that school isn’t known for having the best coaching staff.   What tells me a lot about the kid is his willingness to lose close to 45 lbs on his own before showing up at UGA.

  72. freddawg

I missed the offseason discussion; any thoughts on Solomon Kindley?  I’m no way capable of evaluating an OL, but on video he looks like he moves and bends very well for a huge man.

  73. Greg Poole

    8. Georgia Even though new coach Kirby Smart has to replace all four starters from last year’s linebacker unit, the Bulldogs still have the potential to own a top-10 group in 2016. Reggie Carter returns to the starting lineup after missing nearly all of 2015 due to a shoulder injury. Sophomore Natrez Patrick is expected to join Carter as a starter on the interior, with Roquan Smith also expected to factor prominently into the rotation. Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy expected to start on the edges. The development of this duo is critical for Smart’s defense, as Carter and Bellamy need to spark a pass rush that generated only 21 sacks in 2015. –

  74. Reddawg13

haws1178 I do too, he has camped, won 7 on 7’s, studied, worked out, practiced and anything else he could do to be ready, the future is now, play him.

  75. Bulldawg Bob2

Bleudawg PTCDawg  Agree Bleu. I think the key there is if opponents load the box, which I think they will do whether Lamber to Eason is in at QB because they are either going to test Lambert’s passing out or take their chances with a freshman QB slinging it around, but the key will be Offensive Coordinator anticipating or adjusting to that and creating a quick passing game and vertical passing attack to make the defenses back off.

Using the TEs to get 5 to 10 yards and taking shots down the field will make defensive coordinators think twice about putting 8, 9, or even 10 in the box.

Of course that is easier said than done lol.

  76. Reddawg13

well down here in South Georgia the cotton is blooming so that means football and cooler weather is getting close! and I am sho ready!

  77. tmdawg12

about to go watch some middle school football. coached these kids in baseball this year. got me realizing how close we are to the season starting

  78. haws1178

I agree reading or listening about the Dawgs is something I enjoy doing and shortly it will include watching

  79. Bulldawg Bob2

On the talk about the podcast below, Bulldawg36 we’ll try to get The Senator on this season for sure.
We’ve got a bunch of really awesome Bulldawg personalities, bloggers, and writers lined up for this season.

We’ll have Bernie from Bernie’s Dawg Blog and CorbinDawg from The Grit Tree on Thursday night, and we’ve got a really cool show planned with Vance and local TV celeb that we should be recording on Wednesday night.

I’ll also be getting our very own intern Michael  Pope on this season, and we’ll have Dawg Time Magazine’s Patrick Garbin on as well. Murray Poole, the legend from the Press Box, will be a regular fixture.

Plus some other future guests, but we are really working hard to give you guys and gals some really good content and fun shows.

And I apologize for the length of the last two BD Illustrated ON-AIR podcasts. They were definitely a little long in the tooth; so, I ‘ll work on getting those down to no-longer than 30 minutes.

  80. haws1178

I definitely have had lunch that’s were fournette learn his running style. He watch me going to the cafeteria

  81. BahitsAgain

DawgLink I think he won a ton of popularity with his humbleness and his nod to Chubb.  Especially among us Dawgs.  He definitely went up my fandom list.

  82. BahitsAgain

freddawg AlphaDawg SonofHenry yeah, but are you superhuman like Chubb, Sony and Fournette?

  83. freddawg

SonofHenry  I would use that excuse, except I never had anything that amounted to a career anyway.

  84. BahitsAgain

SonofHenry AlphaDawg I didn’t care for him as a freshman, but he grew on me.  He is fun to watch and seems like a good kid.  I like how he says good things about Chubb and I loved how he flicked Trey over his shoulder.

I hope he is ok.  He brings more excitement to the game.

  85. freddawg

AlphaDawg SonofHenry I’m sure he’ll be fine, eventually.  But those sprained ankles can take a long time.  I had a severe sprain that required 6 weeks in a cast.

  86. Hobnailboot aka RobG

If you do please don’t let the discussion be about paying players, he has beat that horse to death

  87. SonofHenry

AlphaDawg SonofHenry Yeah don’t wish for anyone to get hurt, but it was weird cause I was just reading that article that EC posted about Heisman candidates in SEC.

  88. haws1178

I’m interested in seeing how much Lambert improves under what I consider to be a better QB coach

  89. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole I agree with your guess. I’m sure he wants a starter to consistently start working with the 1s, but I don’t think he shows his hand yet

  90. Greg Poole

All of this QB chatter may get some direction tonight when we meet with Kirby. We have not seen him since he watched the film of the scrimmage. However, my guess is that he still doesn’t say much until early next week.

  91. Bulldawg36

Lambert is just gun shy!!! If he could just get into a rhythm. He might be good qb. He’s got to play more assertive this year.

  92. Greg Poole

Bleudawg Completely agree. And that goes back to the QB and game plan.
We all watched team stack the box last year and saw that UGA was unable to back team off the LOS.
I think you’ll see Chaney invite teams to play 9 up close and try to make them pay with the tight ends. If successful he’ll start pounding the LOS with the backs then use WRs more.

  93. freddawg

Greg Poole  Definitely a head coach decision in that case.  I remember when Stafford got pulled against Colorado, and Cox came in and won the game.  Didn’t hurt Stafford’s mindset, but he had a bit more time in the system.  Stafford did acknowledge that he was in over his head for a lot of that season.  He finally stretched his wings against Auburn and Virginia Tech.

  94. Greg Poole

freddawg Depends, but that’s why he getting $3.5 million per year. My point goes back to the separation. The conversation is based on them being close in an impartial assessment.

  95. Bleudawg

Greg Poole PTCDawg I agree 100% but they still offensively have to be able to influence the defensive formation.. Last year they just plugged everything up and dared us to throw. It takes a hell of an OL w/ an All American to penetrate that. Of course Chubb abd Gurly had some long ones when they did break thru.

  96. freddawg

Greg Poole  I don’t disagree with that, but what if Eason starts and struggles when the lights are on?  Would you pull him, or just bite the bullet and let him play.

  97. Bleudawg

freddawg Bleudawg i think UNC is a tough opponent. We have to win that game. then we have a little time to kind of mess around (breathing room). Everyone will get their first grass stains and things will settle some. I just honestly think they let GL back this bad boy out of the driveway.
then they “may” switch drivers. who knows, im simply a fan lol

  98. haws1178

I kinda agree. The argument of easing him into play to protect his confidence I don’t quite buy into. I’m sure he’s lost a game before and if you play you know you will again. I believe he is mature enough to handle his mistakes.

  99. Greg Poole

PTCDawg  The OL is more about how it performs as a unit than, say, WRs or QBs where individual stats mean something. In that regard, your comments about Pittman are most important. The OL never bought into what Sale was selling, but that is not the case this year.

  100. Bleudawg

freddawg Bulldawg36 I think it will come down to who knows the offense the best by week one. Yes its a new system for all of them but Lambert likely will have the edge. Im sure the other two are getting work in practice but since they have not passed him n the depth chart I would theorize GL is the guy at the moment.

  101. freddawg

Bleudawg  Or, if the race really is close, maybe Lambert starts and gets a half to show what he can do.  It’s hard to estimate how quick Chaney would be to give the others a look if Lambert looked indecisive.

  102. Bleudawg

AlphaDawg DawgByte TtownDawg lagadawg Lambert will start and if he does likely play the whole game. Unless its a blow out either way then you will see 1 or both of the other two. jmho

  103. Greg Poole

Bulldawg36  I’ll get around to inviting Michael (The Senator) at some point.  I talked to him early this year but we never got it done.
We need to get everyone affiliated with the site going first.

  104. Bleudawg

PTCDawg I agree w/ your assesment but would also like to add that the RB and QB positions will play a roll. If others can stack the box w/ zero respect for the pass and our #1 and #2 Rbs are out or even dinged we could see similar results. Hopefully we can pread them out this year and obviously everyone will look better.

  105. Bansai buckeroo

Unless something has changed, we know what we have in Lambert and Ramsey. I say start Eason and give the experience he will need when we get to the Sec portion of our schedule. The Sec championship game is my goal this year. If Eason is our future, I’m ready to get started.

  106. DawgLink

I don’t know what has made them decide to start writing satire sports stories but they are stupid. The other one recently was the SEC agrees to acquire the ACC. A bunch of dummies fell for that one

  107. PTCDawg

IMO, comparing this years OL to last years…

Catalina vs Theus: moderate downgrade; Theus was solid, Catalina is TBD
Wynn vs Wynn: moderate upgrade; a year older a year bigger
Kubs vs Kubs: moderate upgrade; more experienced, more vocal
Sims vs Pyke: even; Pyke did not have a good year, resulted in being benched
Pyke vs Houston; moderate upgrade, Pyke looks to be solid this time around, Houston was ok at best
Blaze vs Blaze: moderate upgrade, a year better, better backups

Gaillard vs Long: large upgrade; first guy off the bench is very important
Pittman vs Sale: large upgrade; the potential to make everyone better

overall: this year the OL should be a much bigger plus than it was last year

  108. freddawg

Bulldawg36 I definitely agree with the guy who’s most ready.  The coaches have a tough decision; who’s most ready, who’s improving the quickest, who has best command of the playbook.

They may even decide that none of these guys is capable of doing more than being a game manager right now, and we have to play in safe mode until that changes.  If that’s the case, then this is probably an introductory year, where we win the easy ones and try to pound it and depend on the defense to keep us in the others.  It’s an option too, if that’s where we are.

  109. haws1178

Not disagreeing with you but Eason and Ramsey had identical stats. So either one based off that game would be fine with me.

  110. lagadawg

To me Eason looked better in the spring game than the other 2 quarterbacks, he’s had from then until now to get better. I don’t understand why people keep saying with Lambert we have a better chance to win. This is just my opinion.

  111. Bulldawg36

I dunno. I want the qb who is the most ready
Losing 3 in a row in the dome is just another black eye

  112. AlphaDawg

DawgByte TtownDawg lagadawg Most experience doesn’t always mean best chance to win. Deep down the realist in me says Lambert starts.

  113. DawgByte

TtownDawg lagadawg Not only do I believe Lambert will start against UNC, but I think he should start. Starting off the season 0-1 to an ACC team is not the way Kirby wants to begin his tenure at UGA. He wants the person with the most experience behind Center who will protect the ball.
I want Jacob to succeed when he gets in the game and I don’t think starting the game is the best approach. I hope he gets 2-3 series after we establish a lead or in the event Lambert can’t move the ball.

  114. Bansai buckeroo

Just listened to the podcast. Huck doesn’t sound anything like I thought he would. Funny how you have your preconceptions.

  115. freddawg

lagadawg I agree, but the question is do we want it to be easy.  Whoever starts has two or three games until the real trial by fire begins.  There’s not a lot of room to get eased into things if our goal is to win the SEC east.  I don’t care which qb starts, but I’m not a big fan of letting them spend much time getting comfortable handing off to Nick Chubb.  If it’s Lambert or Ramsey, then make him air it out, take some sacks and make quick decisions.  If it’s Eason, then he has to be ready to do the same.  Mistakes will happen, but I’d sacrifice the UNC game if necessary to learn where our quarterbacks stand before we play Ole Miss.

  116. TtownDawg

lagadawg  I’m as ready as most dawg fans to see the “Eason” era begin, however, with a game as important as this one,  I believe Lambert starts…just my humble opinion.

  117. lagadawg

I think with Chubb ,Sony and Hollyfield in the backfield if Eason starts it’s going to make his start  much more easier than what most quarterbacks get to experience.

  118. freddawg

BahitsAgain tmdawg12 That would be a great app if you could do it, but you’d probably have to incorporate some kind of ad blocker in your program.  Looking at the source code behind these modern webpages, with HTML5 and so much javascript, it’s hard to even tell where the fluff comes from.

  119. BahitsAgain

I would like for a sports magazine to have a guessing game where they go talk to each SEC coach and get them to make a wild statement about an opposing coach.  Put them all on a page in one column and the list of coaches in another column and have it where we can draw lines to connect coach to quote.  At the back of the magazine, have the answer key printed upside down like we were in 3rd grade.

Bama, Vols and Auburn fans might have a problem with it.

  120. BahitsAgain

RumRunnerDoogie BahitsAgain PTCDawg btw, I totally made all that up, but it is just as reliable as any “anonymous” source.
Put a name to it, if you want us to believe it!

  121. BahitsAgain

RumRunnerDoogie BahitsAgain PTCDawg Yep, I loved it when that SEC anonymous coach said the exact thing you just wrote.  You plagiarized him!

  122. RumRunnerDoogie

BahitsAgain PTCDawg its to the point where anything “anonymous” anymore i take with a grain of salt, anyone can just write that and put what ever they want

  123. BahitsAgain

PTCDawg I loved the anonymous SEC coach quote that called Butch a brick head.   Things are getting nasty!

  124. PTCDawg

So Athlon Sports rates our LB corps at #8 in the nation. That makes a LOT more sense to me than the ridiculous ‘anonymous’ SEC coach who was commenting that Georgia ‘doesnt have any good linebackers’.

  125. BahitsAgain

tmdawg12 I think I will write a chrome extension that you can hover over a link or ad, then have it retrieve most of the page in a text format, minus ads and other images.

  126. RumRunnerDoogie

tmdawg12 idk why a actual reporting website tries to dip into satire writing, kind of a odd professional take

  127. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  They are adding depth at QB, but not for competition to be the starter. Most walk-ons impact the program like Georgia’s in practice and on the scout team. The better your walk-ons and guys behind the 1s and 2s and even 3s, then usually the better the practice because of competition. Scout team plays a very important role in getting the team ready for each game throughout the season.

    It is a non-story.

Now, go put back on your straight-jacket and settle down ######## 🙂

  128. AlphaDawg

RobDawg dsw61 Awesome guys! We’ve visited during a cruise and wanted to go back. We’re skipping the resort route this time and going adventure. Rented a small apartment and a Jeep wrangler to go drive around, go to St John etc.

  129. AlphaDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 tmdawg12  Bulldawg36 Greg Poole Mind blowing. He’s an 18 year old kid who’s going against a 5th year QB. If anything, it’s pathetic Lambert hasn’t created separation and he’s let a true freshman get up to his level.

  130. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  I wouldn’t say “smaller.” Alec Ogletree is 6-3; so he is a couple of inches taller than Roquan and Rashad, but his playing weight was around 225-230 lbs at Georgia when he was moved to ILB.

Thomas Davis when he was moved from safety to ILB was about Roqan’s and Rashad’s size. Thomas Davis was up to about 230 lbs during his junior year.

The idea is to get athletic and fast ILB’s who can play every down and are not a liability in pass coverage and then Coach Smart and Coach Tucker can move around.

  131. Bulldawg Bob2

tmdawg12  Bulldawg36 Greg Poole  There have been some threads on the paysite forums at the “other” sites where some “fans” have made the comment that Eason is “over-rated” because he hasn’t won the starting QB job yet.

I have not seen the comments directly but several people I know that are members at those paysites have told the individuals making those comments are generally the ones that complain the most no matter what and are borderline “trolls” on those forums.

In other words, they are just trying to stir the pot or have no clue.

  132. dawgmum

tmdawg12 I thought that article was just a ridiculous waste of time; both the author’s and mine.

  133. Greg Poole

The first thing that jumps out is that Fremeau has Georgia ranked No. 8 nationally. (Spoiler alert: That’s higher than I have the Bulldogs in my Top 25, which should be available soon.) He has them ahead of Tennessee, his No. 10 team. Fremeau’s numbers give the Bulldogs a 73 percent chance or better in 10 of their 12 games. The exceptions: 61 percent against Tennessee and 30 percent at Ole Miss.
I’m on record –that’s what FOA picks, too — and I say again: I had a harder time finding two losses than 10 wins. I see only four lose-able games: North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Florida. There’s a chance the Bulldogs will be an underdog only in Oxford. (They’re favored over Carolina in the Dome.)

  134. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg Poole  Nick Chubb looks good. I’m ready to see him get back on the field and doing his thing. I don’t care how many yards or TDs he gets. I’ll just be happy to see him running the ball again in a game.

WillieWalden Kirby’s got that one covered!   Isn’t she the one he had all the coaches send a birthday card to?

  136. Greg Poole

    Dawgnation89  Six days ago:

Minkah Fitzpatrick has been at nickel back. Marlon Humphrey is at one cornerback spot. At the other? Kendall Sheffield.
That’s at least how it’s been during the media viewing period.
It’s a good sign for Sheffield, the who is entering his redshirt freshman season.
Redshirt junior Anthony Averett and Sheffield are two of the top contenders in the competition to be the fifth defensive back on the field when the Tide goes into its nickel or dime defense.

ed603 MMCSDAWG Damn RIGHT!  I’m ready and I know those rabid dawgs and CKS will be ready as well!

  138. WillieWalden

I’m sure it’s coming.. But if he does indeed leave … I’m almost sure he’ll hear from us at least to test the waters… Stash him for a year and you have a five star talent with experience

  139. RumRunnerDoogie

rugbydawg79 RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole well ones things for sure, he will probably be the best tackler on the team day one

  140. rugbydawg79

RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole He would make a heck of a Rugby player – guess ya’ll saw that Reechard has sent his son stateside , another 16 yo French Rugby player learning  American Football.

  141. WillieWalden

Another 5 star leaving bama… Sounds like trouble in paradise… I have a feeling the sec is gonna be more up for grabs than what people think…. Why not us.. Lol

  142. BahitsAgain

dsw61 freddawg Well, Buck Belue didn’t throw a lot, thus protected the ball and we won the Natty…..  of course, there were a few other variables.  lol

  143. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole well folks this will probably be the only info we hear about mcbride until he commits

  144. RumRunnerDoogie

BahitsAgain Greg Poole since hes a strength coach i doubt hes touched a dairy product in 10 years

  145. BahitsAgain

Greg Poole That has to be a fun job.   If he knocks the ball loose, the players should have to by him a icecream.

  146. freddawg

dsw61  Exactly.  It’s possible to be too concerned with interceptions.  Taking those risks is what opens up defenses.  Even drives that end with an interception can have a positive impact if it makes the defense back off later in the game.  And the quarterbacks need to take those shots in a game, not just practice.

  147. Bansai buckeroo

Have a good time Alpha and don’t let your wife catch you looking at the women….. 🙂

  148. dsw61

freddawg Only seems logical that QBs who can make all the throws are going to attempt more throws into tight windows, and more intermediate to longer throws. Doesn’t make sense to me to recruit the big arm QBs if you’re going to play it safe and go with the QB who checks down a lot and doesn’t attempt as many difficult throws in the interest of protecting the ball; why recruit the QBs with the big arms? It’s kind of a given that the big armed QBs are going to have a tendency to air it out; leading to more picks.

  149. RobDawg

@dsw61 we honeymooned on ST Thomas also and stayed at Bluebeard Castle Hotel overlooking Charlotte harbor which wasn’t a castle at all but an old sugar cane windmill structure. I would like to go back too. The excursion to ST Johns was great and prettier island in my opinion

  150. RobDawg

Those fans don’t speak for everyone. I am of the opinion that I can’t set the lineup so I just enjoy the build up to the season and can’t wait to cheer for the Dawgs. The guy who trots out there for first snap will be the guy so why should I stress out about something I can’t control

  151. freddawg

The quarterback discussion, especially the part about last year’s passing inefficiency, ignores something that may be important IMO.  We didn’t TRY to pass much last year.  UGA’s 327 passing attempts was third fewest in the league, ahead of only Auburn and LSU.  I was disappointed early in the year when we only attempted 14 passes in our opener against ULM.  We never threw over 25 passes in our first 4 games, and then suddenly we had to throw 31, 33, 32, and 34 times in the next 4 games when we got behind, losing 3 of those games.  Then we dropped to 19 pass attempts in a snoozer against Kentucky.

It seems to me, if you avoid your weakness against weak teams, and then try to rely on it against better defenses, you’re asking for a problem.  Everybody knows we have a strong running game when healthy.  To develop a balanced offense, we need to use early games to throw the football as much as possible, get the quarterbacks and receivers up to speed before we reach the critical part of the schedule.  At least you learn which quarterback has the best chance of getting to a consistent passing rhythm in real game conditions.

  152. Bulltoad

Greg Poole I am looking forward to next week.  Like what was discussed on the BI podcast who is going to be third string after second scrimmage?

  153. Bulldawg36

True. Pruitt also shut Clemson down when he was at FSU. I’m excited about Roquan and Roundtree. They are fast lil jokers! They’re tough as nails

  154. Reddawg13

Bulldawg36 Against Clemson when he put in the smaller quicker guys he shut down Clemson, when they were out and needed a break, Clemson got yardage.

  155. Greg Poole

It is funny that after one scrimmage the narrative in the fan base suddenly changed from Eason the Savior to chants of “O-ver Ra-ted”.  Well, I guess it is better than last year when Park and Ramsey were not given a fair shot.

I have not seen anything (or heard anything from the guys who will make the decision) that moves me off of the position that Eason will start against UNC.

This week scrimmage could change my view and maybe Kirby will address the QBs when we talk with him this afternoon.

  156. Reddawg13

Greg Poole Reddawg13 He is one I am counting on to make a showing, should be a beast! Anyone that size that outruns the point guard on the basketball team in a shuttle run is a beast!

  157. Bulldawg36

I say being Mecole Hardman off the edge on a blitze. I bet he can apply pressure pretty quickly with blazing speed!!!

  158. dsw61

AlphaDawg Greg Poole Spent 10 days on St Thomas for our honeymoon many years ago. Going to go back one of these days. We stayed at “Point Pleasant Resort”.

  159. Bulldawg36

Kirby is changing his view on how to stop spread teams by using Smaller LB’s…just like Pruitt did. Pruitt knew how to shut auburn down. He owns auburn and Clemson. I still think we will also have enough size to hold our own vs power running teams as well.

  160. Greg Poole

Reddawg13  I haven’t been able to watch him very much, but he is coming along. There is a lot of talent in this freshman class.

  161. Bulldawg36

People do forget about him! He’s gonna be great. Can manac..walker and carter put pressure on the qb this year! I think they will!!!

  162. RobDawg

Yeah and the stats in there about which schools had what number on scholly, the average height, etc… were a bit of a stretch to make his point. I mean to say that we are in bad company with Bama and LSU as having the fewest WR on rosters is not what I would have done. Our schemes don’t scream that we need volumes of WRs

  163. Bulldawg36

Ba now, we all know Grayson is gonna start the unc game and who knows and if Eason will ever beat him out this year. I want Eason as well but I’m not playing blind to the situation!!!! 18 more days till we will be changing diapers. But who knows really.. Babies come when they want.!!

  164. BahitsAgain

Bansai buckeroo bunch of cheese head hicks.   It isn’t hard to confuse them.  BTW, were you taking part in the rioting and looting?

  165. BahitsAgain

Reddawg13 Bulldawg36 I hope that whoever the starter is, he is accurate, spreads the ball all over the place, does GREAT playaction that freezes the DBs and LBs in their tracks and he gets the W.

  166. Bansai buckeroo

@alpha…I was just up in Wisconsin and was getting some strange looks to why my Green Bay hat was red……. 🙂

  167. Bulldawg36

I’m not being mean here!! But why do y’all wait till football season starts to go on vacations???? Is that the only time y’all can get off from work?? Just wondering that’s all. Football season only last a few months. In a blink of the eye it will be gone!!!

  168. Reddawg13

Bulldawg36 Well if he is the only one game ready we better run for 600 yards in the opening game.

  169. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg36 lol, I was just trolling for reactions.  I am not sure what I think about them.  They look slippery.

  170. Reddawg13

Bulldawg36 I thought about it, but decided to just go ahead and crank up Club 90 and have a bunch of Dawgs come on over!

  171. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg36 Lock up the Troll!!!  For his own safety!!!!

BD36, how many days until diaper changing duty?

  172. Bulldawg36

I was only being sarcastic!!!!! And accepting the reality of our qb situation!!!! Lambert is the only qb right now who is game ready!!!!!!!!

  173. Greg Poole

revtizzy The signs are everywhere: Georgia accepted a walk-on QB and Mrs. Smart purchased a dress that had no black, red or silver in its design. The end of times are nigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  174. BahitsAgain

Bulldawg36 As shiny as Erk Russell’s proud dome was while patrolling the UGA and GSC sidelines!

  175. revtizzy

Either sarcasm or sign of the apocalypse:  Bulldawg36 said the following last night:  “Why worry?  We’re in good hands with Lambert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

(not confident of how many explanation points were used).  You decide which is the sign of the apocalypse in the statement above, if it’s not sarcasm.

  176. rugbydawg79

Bulldawg36 I was there – we had just taken the lead with a TD catch by Clarence Kay – long pass to their tight end ,as time was running out – John Brown I believe – It was crushing – we did have quite a time on Bourbon st the five days prior

  177. Greg Poole

Games that will affect the SEC title race:
    9. Tennessee at Georgia, Oct. 1: The Vols will have already played Florida, while Georgia will have played North Carolina and Ole Miss on the road. There’s a better chance that Tennessee will have an unblemished record. When you consider that Texas A&M and Alabama are also on Tennessee’s schedule, the Vols must win this one to stay in the East and playoff races.

  178. Colonial Dawg

AlphaDawg Bulldawg36 And while AlphaDawg is there I’ll be “cooling” it in Alaska!  Headed up on the Norwegian Pearl.

  179. haws1178

If I remember correctly he walked on shortly before park left. I believe that was what 36 was referring to

  180. Bulldawg36

Just kidding with ya Alpha. It just reminded me of that long bomb Marino threw to beat us in the bowl in the early 80’s!!!!!

  181. AlphaDawg

Bulldawg36 lol, just thought it was cool!
I would like UGA to do a throwback to this helmet with inspired uniform

  182. Bulldawg36

I cringe every time I see dan Marino in a Pitt uniform!!!!! Thanks for bring up bad memories alpha!!!!!

  183. haws1178

My guess is it the timing of it ? I am happy with it. The coaches have seen enough in this young man that he can be beneficial to the team and that good enough for me

  184. Greg Poole

haws1178  I just don’t understand all of the speculation. There have been other walk-ons this summer and not a peep.

  185. Bulldawg36

I can certainly say he does, with that sweater on!!! He doesn’t even look like he is sweating either. Lol

  186. Greg Poole

Reddawg13  O’Neal seems to be getting positive reviews from the staff but they did move Roundtree. Brown looks great in drills but that means jack.

  187. Reddawg13

I asked this Sunday but there wasn’t many on at the time and I didn’t see the answer. So, here goes again. Has Johnny O’Neal resurrected his career? And how is Kenyon Brown looking?

  188. haws1178

Not sure of Mr McLeod’s skill set but I’m sure it would be beneficial to have a pocket passer as well as a mobile QB to run your scout teams depending on what type QB you will face with the next opponent

  189. Greg Poole

haws1178  Convoluted logic is their stock in trade. Holy cripes, This is trying to draw a parallel to last year with Lambert and Park. Of course, Lambert was a grad transfer who had been a D1 starter, but what the hell – close enough.

  190. Bulldawg36

The coaches know what they’re doing…I’m not concerned really. I just remember how about this same time last year we took a walk on because they knew park was gonna leave. It just feels awfully familiar.

  191. Greg Poole

Bulldawg36  Why not? He is not on scholly. Let’s see, a kid approaches and says, “Hey coach, can I try out for your team?” You say, “Go away, your presence might cause talk on the looney boards.”

  192. Reddawg13

AlphaDawg Where the “Homeboys” kick azz til both shoes get $hit&y! “It Damn Sho Can Be Us!” “Take No Prisoners!” Smart Ball is now here!

  193. Bulldawg36

That’s what I’ve been reading on other boards. Don’t understand why they would take him?

  194. Greg Poole

Bulldawg36  Where is that stuff coming from. McCloud is a walk-on and this is his 3rd stop.

DawgDaddy Morning DD!   I’m just getting back from tripping up to visit with all the family up in Georgia!   Enjoy PCB!

  196. Bulldawg36

With the Parker Mcloud addition the coaches maybe concerned of a transfer with one of our QBs. Or maybe they just want more depth!

  197. Greg Poole

Limiting transfers is the headline post in today’s Georgia High School Football Daily
