TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECT: Ryland Goede

Ryland Goede is 6-7 236 pound four-star tight end. According to 247Sports, he’s the No. 6 tight end in the country and the No. 21 prospect in the state of Georgia. He committed to Georgia on February 7, 2018, which gave the Bulldogs its seventh commitment of 2019 and the fourth 4-star in the class. Goede not only plays football at Kennesaw Mountain high school but baseball as well.

I spoke with the Georgia native and asked him about his commitment to Georgia and his overall recruiting process.

Q: How was the overall recruiting process for you?

A: “I enjoyed the process. It was an absolute blessing and all glory to God for the opportunity to have chances to play in college for baseball and football.”

Q: So you’re hoping to play football and baseball in college? And what positions do you play in baseball?

A: “Well that was one of the reasons I committed to UGA was because they offered me both. And I play third, first and in the outfield.”

Q: Since you’re committed to Georgia do you still plan on using your official visits and have you decided where you will take them?

A: “I’m not sure about official visits yet. I will talk to Coach Smart about those and just get a feel for the situation. I’m 110% committed to UGA though.”

Q: What are your thoughts on Georgia? What drew you to them?

A: I love UGA. I love everything about the campus and the feel and I connect great with the coaches both baseball and football. And I fit into their offensive scheme really well.”

Q: How hard did they recruit you? What were some things they told you to get that pledge?

A: “Holding this UGA offer for awhile it really holds a special place in my heart especially growing up a Dawg fan. Also with Coach Smart being my first ever college recruiter when he was at Bama, it allowed our relationship to grow greatly.”

Q: Are there any guys that since you are a part of the 2019 class that the recruits are going for themselves? Care to share?

A: “Yeah absolutely we are constantly recruiting. One guy, I am for sure going after is Chris Hinton. We are good buddies and he is a heck of a player and a great guy.”

Q: Can you tell me a little about the relationship with Coach Smart you have. You mentioned he was the first person that recruited you.

A: “He’s a great guy and recruits really connect with him because he’s such a relational guy. He’s able to be relational when he needs to be but also be the great coach he is when he needs to be.”
