The No. 3 Georgia women’s tennis team is slated to continue conference action with two home matches at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex against Missouri and No. 24 Arkansas.
The Bulldogs will take on the Tigers on Friday, April 2 at 3 p.m. and will face off against the Razorbacks on Sunday, April 4 at 1 p.m.
The Tigers come to Athens with a 15-11 overall record and an 1-8 conference with their win coming against No. 25 Mississippi State. Georgia leads the all-time series 8-0 with their last meeting coming in 2019 with a 4-0 win for the Bulldogs. Missouri has one ranked player in singles in Bronte Murgett who comes in at No. 76. In doubles, Murgett and Marta Oliveira are ranked No. 69.
The Hogs will visit Athens with an ITA ranking of 24, an 10-5 overall record and an 4-5 SEC record with wins over Missouri, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. The last time these two squads faced off was in 2019 with a 4-0 win for the Bulldogs. Georgia leads the all-time series 31-3. Arkansas has one ranked singles player in No. 33 Indianna Spink.
In the latest rankings, Georgia stayed at No. 3 in both the ITA and USTA rankings. For individual rankings, in doubles, two Bulldog duos stayed ranked in No. 24 Katarina Jokic and Ania Hertel, as well as Jokic and Ariana Arseneault who come in at a career high No. 3. In singles, Jokic stayed on top at the No. 1 ranked player in the country, Meg Kowalski bumped up one spot to No. 12, a career high, Lea Ma came in at No. 59 and Morgan Coppoc jumped up to No. 61. Marta Gonzalez rounds out the rankings at No. 96.
Both graduates Elena Christofi and Gonzalez and close to reaching career milestones. Gonzalez is 10 singles wins away from earning 100 singles wins and Christofi is one win away from 100 career doubles wins.
Last time out, the Bulldogs went 2-0 in their last road matches of the season defeating two ranked foes in No. 23 Kentucky, 4-0 and No. 16 Vanderbilt, 4-2.
