Stats That Matter: Georgia vs. Texas 2025

5 – total touchdowns by Gunner Stockton

The Bulldogs quarterback continues to elevate his name in the Heisman race after five total touchdowns in the win against the Longhorns. Stockton has played some of the best football at the quarterback position you can ask for. He has 27 total touchdowns on the season, along with just three interceptions. If Stockton keeps it up, he deserves a trip to New York for the Heisman ceremony.

2 – Noah Thomas touchdowns

When wide receiver Colbie Young went down against Ole Miss, it was evident that someone needed to step up. After not having much of a season to show for early on, Thomas answered the call and has become one of Georgia’s top playmakers. The senior scored two touchdowns against Texas, which matched his season total.

2 – Texas third-down conversions

Texas was only able to convert on two of 12 third downs, which limited Manning’s ability to put up points against a stout Georgia defense. The home crowd certainly helped, but the Bulldogs were able to get off the field early and often, while Texas was unable to sustain drives down the field.

1 – Georgia penalty

The Bulldogs were only flagged for one penalty in the win over Texas. Georgia outplayed and outcoached the Longhorns in many aspects, but that can be dismantled if you let penalties breathe life into the other team. Coach Smart showed that his team is one of the most disciplined in the nation by keeping his players in check and away from penalties.

21 – fourth quarter points

Georgia is one of the best second-half teams in college football, and showcased that against Texas with 21 points in the fourth quarter. Texas scored late in the third quarter to trail 14-10, but Stockton and the offense never looked back after the score. Even with the slow start, the Georgia defense was able to keep strong and allow the offense to wake up in route to a blowout victory.

1 – onside kick recovery by Georgia

After taking a 21-10 lead in the fourth quarter, Coach Smart dialed up an onside kick recovery which would lead to another touchdown drive. This was Georgia’s first onside kick recovery in the Kirby Smart era. We have seen Smart go for bold plays through fake punts, but we rarely see an onside kick recovery in a pivotal moment.
