For the third consecutive year, the Dawgs are on top of the SEC. The Georgia women’s tennis team captured the SEC Tournament Championship once again, defeating the No. 1-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, 4-2. With Georgia’s 11th SEC Tournament title and their second time ever securing a three-peat—a feat only Florida had previously accomplished—the Bulldogs also captured the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The road to the SEC Championship was impressive. The Dawgs dominated Tennessee and Oklahoma, earning back-to-back 4-0 sweeps to advance to the title match against the Aggies.

Championship Sunday got off to a strong start for Georgia. Guillermina Grant and Anastasiia Lopata took down Texas A&M’s Mia Kupres and Daria Smetannikov, 6-3, while Aysegul Mert and Hayden Mulberry won 6-4 against Nicole Khirin and Lexington Reed to clinch the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. In singles, Mell Reasco and Aysegul Mert quickly extended the Dawgs’ advantage with straight-set victories, pushing the lead to 3-0.

Texas A&M wouldn’t go down quietly. Mary Stoiana and Reed picked up back-to-back singles wins to close the gap to 3-2; however, Grant came through in a crucial moment, battling through a tough two-set match to defeat Daria Smetannikov and clinch the SEC title for the Dawgs.

For their outstanding performances throughout the tournament, Grant and Mert were named to the All-Tournament Team. Grant, who went a perfect 6-0 in her matches (3 singles, 3 doubles), was named Tournament MVP.

This victory marks Georgia’s fourth SEC Tournament title in the past five years. It also adds to an already incredible season that includes winning the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championship—their fifth national indoor title—by once again, defeating Texas A&M.

Next up, the Dawgs turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament. During Monday’s NCAA Selection Show, Georgia was announced as the No. 1 overall seed. They will face Florida A&M in the first round and expect to make a deep run. With Head Coach Drake Bernstein already becoming the fastest coach in program history to win a national title, he and the Dawgs have their sights set on another national championship with the finals set for May 18.
