Dan Jackson and Trevor Etienne headlined the former Georgia stars that competed in the historic game featuring the nation’s top seniors. Jackson, better known as “Dirty Dan”, made a touchdown-saving hit as the former walk-on safety did so many times at Georgia. From his performance practicing throughout the week, Dirty Dan earned the honors of being named the top defensive back on the American team, voted upon by the tight ends and receivers of the opposing team.
Etienne did the same in the running back room as he was named the American team’s best running back. Throughout the practice week Etienne showed his vision of the field as well as his bursts of speed and blocking ability.
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Smael Mondon and Arian Smith were the other three competitors from the weekend, showing off their value for NFL scouts across the league.
No one’s draft stock rose like Arian Smith’s… The receiver had his straight line speed to count on, but catching and route-running were question marks and, quite frankly, downgrades to his draftability. The haters were silenced as the speedster burnt opposing defensive backs throughout the practice week, making one of the more impressive toe tap catches of the entire event. Go get ‘em, Arian!
These five Dawgs leave UGA as DGDs, two time national champions, two time SEC champions, the winningest class in Georgia football history and never losing in Sanford Stadium! Thank you, Trevor, Dan, Tyrion, Smael and Arian! Go be great!
