Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

MMCSDAWG 90% committed. I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t stick, although he did wear a Georgia shirt to his doctor’s appointment today.

  2. Bulldawg36

That’s true. We should have made him pay last year but we let him run around and he would toss up prayer for a TD. We have to do better against mobile QBs in the future

  3. Bulldawg36

Glad he didn’t. Because we brought the best out of the guy. Hope he goes division 2

In recent years under Richt, a significant drop-off from first- to second-team talent along both lines of scrimmage was noticeable. While it’s still early in the 2017 recruiting cycle, Smart’s 2017 class is shaping up as one of the best in the SEC, which means it would be one of the best in the nation.
An increasing sense of entitlement also seemingly plagued the final years of Richt’s tenure. This is what Smart has to battle first and foremost. He even mentioned it at SEC Media Days: “http://atlanta.cbslocal.com/2016/07/12/georgia-head-coach-kirby-smart-you-are-not-entitled-to-anything-as-a-player-here-at-uga/ here at UGA.”

Richmondawg MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg JaxDawg But what if beating them in recruiting, beat them in ATL…..??????

Bulldawg36 Dabo is a lot like Les Miles to me. I’d like to hate them because they coach for opposing teams, but I end up thinking they’re both hilarious at the end of the day.

  7. MMCSDAWG

godawgs678 MMCSDAWG Right…   I was shocked about Price, I expected D. Brown thing and honestly, I’m glad we got M. Carter and T. Clark and believe Carter and even possibly Clark may end up better overall players.  Time will tell!

  8. Bulldawg36

Dabo is all over the sports networks today!!! It makes me want to vomit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. MMCSDAWG

JaxDawg Yeah, I thought I remembered he was killed in a single car accident or something.  Terrible situation for him and his family.

  10. Bulldawg36

Can’t wait for the first day of practice! Chuck Dowdle- let’s get it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. MMCSDAWG

1mandawgpack JaxDawg Not sure if it’s the same person, but they had a kid named Tenpenny or something like that.

  12. Bulldawg36

Gridiron now predicts UGA will finish 11-1! That’s what I’m talking about baby!!!!!

  13. JaxDawg

That’s true! I was mad about dowdell (sp?) as well and brown but you think that opens a spot for someone else so hey! I’ll survive

  14. godawgs678

MMCSDAWG Now, I will admit, I lost my marbles last year on Signing Day when we only signed 3 OL and Price was turned away. I was HOT. But, that’s what’s fun about following recruiting. The highs and lows are fun as long as you can laugh about em later.

JaxDawg  One of whom was Kamara (now at UT) and another of whom was a highly rated RB out of another Atlanta school (whose name eludes me at the moment), neither of whom ever saw the field.  I know that some (clearly not all) recruits will choose a program based strictly upon the depth chart and the chance for early playing time as opposed to being a less integral part (particularly early in their career) of a team that plays for championships.
In previous years, I’d be very concerned with a young man pledging loyalty to ‘Bama, but with the staff, I think that nothing is final until the ink dries on the NLI as Kirby has shown that he will recruit a kid all the way to signing day.

  16. Richmondawg

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg JaxDawg if we want to beat them in recruiting, we need to beat them in Atlanta. Period.

  17. godawgs678

If there is one thing I’ve learned in recruiting over the past 10 years I’ve followed it, never get too attached to any prospect. These kids will drive you crazy. Just enjoy the ride. We will get good players. Kirby is an ace recruiter. In Kirby we trust!

  18. Bulldawg36

I hate to say this, but I’m glad he’s gone. Because he had our number! Stupid gators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. JaxDawg

True, remember that one yea they took like 4? Lol didn’t work out so well for most of those guys. They may move people around the roster or commitment list to make room

  20. 1mandawgpack

JaxDawg  I believe that ‘Bama already has 2 highly-ranked RBs recruited, so I doubt seriously that Swift would want to be a 3rd wheel.  While I think that most RBs now acknowledge that 1 other RB in a class is not a bad thing, I would think 2 would be a bit of “too many cooks in the kitchen.”

  21. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG JaxDawg You trying to get me in trouble! lol!  We are still in the picture and he had some very nice things to say about both UGA and Alabama!

  22. AlphaDawg

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg JaxDawg Does it say Bama leads or they’re tied at the top with UGA, MMCS?

  23. JaxDawg

Yea I think we need to have a smaller scale dawg night, an actual event for elite players

  24. Bulldawg36

I know, but they did lose to a 3-9 sc team. Plus got ran out of the Staduim by a Baylor team playing a bunch of 3rd stringers. They are a solid team. They will give UGA some problems..especially if Sony isn’t able to go. But it’s basically a home game that UGA should win

  25. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg JaxDawg Not nearly as important as those NC rings they have on almost every single finger!

  26. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Reddawg13 I want US to convert many more 3rd downs…  Here is our season stat from 2015.  UGA was 49/158 on 3rd down for a whopping 31%.  That my friends is unacceptable and the area I am most looking forward to Chaney and company fixing!
