Over the next couple of weeks, we here at Bulldawg Illustrated are going to be looking at Georgia football’s incoming freshman class of 2020 in a new series called First Year Look. The Bulldogs’ 2020 class features 25 signees that collectively finished as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports and Rivals.
All 25 of Georgia’s incoming freshmen have reported to campus before workouts started on June 8. Now, they are prepping for their first preseason camp. Over the past couple of days, Bulldawg Illustrated has taken a look a good portion of the 2020 class, and today we will move on to Marcus Rosemy.
Per the 247Sports Composite, Rosemy is the No. 54 overall ranked player nationally, the No. 8 ranked wide receiver in the class of 2020, and the No. 10 ranked prospect in Florida. The four-star committed to UGA back in June of 2019 and his process was fairly drama-free. Prior to committing to the Bulldogs, he did take an official visit to Florida six days before signing, but was never flipped. It seems like he he focused on his senior season at St. Thomas Aquinas during that period.
“Has average to above-average height and length. Relatively filled out with good weight and possesses big hands. Tests as a good athlete with short-area quickness and explosion. Plays for one of the nation’s top high school programs, and sees top competition on a weekly basis. Has a refined skill set at receiver. Is an adept route-runner with the ability to create some shake at the top of his routes. Owns high-level ball skills winning in contested situations with consistency. Attacks the ball at the highest point and comes down with the ball in traffic in both game and camp settings. Lacks an elite top gear as a downfield threat and doesn’t pick up a ton of yards after the catch, but is among the cycles best receivers from a possession perspective. Projects as a multi-year impact target at the Power 5 level with the ability to develop into an early round draft pick.”

Rosemy will more than likely be used on the perimeter of the field because he’s quick at getting off the line of scrimmage. He is only 6-foot-2 but expect him to be able to go up and make catches over defenders if necessary. In a 50/50 ball situation, Rosemy is the receiver to more than likely come down with the catch because of his athleticism. This ability could give him a shot at playing right away.
Out of the five receivers UGA signed in 2020, Rosemy and Jermaine Burton are the ones to watch. Rosemy’s ability to read defenders is something that the Bulldogs’ coaching staff will absolutely love. He’s a powerful force that can match up with great defensive backs and win the down with his deep-threat abilities. He’s also good at blocking on the outside, which is something Kirby Smart wants in his receivers.
